That's fair. In this particular case though, the reservations are for lodging in a national park. If you don't call in when the open their offices on the day that they start accepting reservations for the next year, it can be tough to get what you want. And since my job didn't give me the ability to sit on hold for an hour yesterday, I needed Mrs. GD to do it.I would book 3 nights because the type of people who need help making a hotel reservation are the type who i trust least to get it right and the cancellation policy is usually 24 hours so you can fix it at check in.
I don't blame her at all for not realizing what I wanted, but the guy taking the reservation should have understood. Every reservation website I've ever seen has you input arrival date and departure date. Why that would change when talking in person is a mystery to me.
Oh well, as you pointed out, I can easily call and cancel the last day. Adding another day could have been much more difficult.
