I'm always amazed at how tone deaf people can be today. I'm sure their intentions are in the right place, but christ almighty....

Here's my little sweet little Suzie going into kindergarten today, Isn't she adorable?!?!?!? #neverforget

Here's my FB profile pic of me and my husband with #### eating grins, let's adorn it with a national 911 memorial and museum frame.

My son went to New York on a school trip this summer, just before he turned 14.  One thing they did was spend a couple of hours at the 9/11 Memorial.  He said it was really tough to grasp the importance of it since he wasn't alive when 9/11 happened, but that the idea of it was sad and his teachers/chaperones were very emotional so that was hard as well.  But he said the thing that made him the saddest was all of the people, of all ages, smiling and laughing and taking selfies around the Memorial.  People just don't get it.

i went to NYC in October 2001 (pre-planned vacation). wound up near the WTC site. absolutely sobering experience. just a horrible sight.

on the way there i thought "this is history. this is important. i'm here, i should take this in for good or for bad".

i've been back to NYC plenty since then. and most recently met a friend at the WTC memorial (central point for us to link up based on time, etc.) couldn't walk past it and out of there fast enough.

life goes back to normal quickly. people still have to do their daily thing. but the idea of posing for selfies, etc. there is really in poor taste, imo.

everyone grieves in their own way.

As moronic as it may be

Best wishes da raider family. Be happy of the great relationship you had with Willie and do your best to avoid all the bull#### family members are about do over the estate. What she had is far more valuable than anything they end up with.

Sorry to hear, Raiders.  Losing a parent that you are close to is really tough; tougher than I thought it would ever be.  My heart goes out to your family.

Sorry, Raiders. Just checked in the thread, and anybody who gives love to their daughter and family should be remembered fondly.

Probably not the right time to change the subject, but last night I caved in at about 11pm and made myself a grilled cheese sandwich with mayonnaise instead of butter.  I'll just say it:  It was good.  It was damnnnnnnnnnnnn good.

I had the same experience when I went to the 9/11 museum.  I didn't see any lack of decorum inside, but it was a very odd feeling to come out of that heavy place into bright sunshine and see people with selfie sticks, posing for pictures with big smiles in front of the memorial reflecting pools.

Thoprawishes DaRaiders and the missus.   Hope you found a reliable attorney in time.
we did not unfortunately.  it will head to probate court as i understand it.  which is fine.  my FIL may have wanted to tweak things, but an equal split is not going to ruffle any feathers.  we don't care one way or the other.  my wife and daughter are sad that the house will be gone.  but this way will be easier, from the standpoint of a court appointed sale.  trying to get my ###### BIL's out of that house is not something i wanted to deal with.  they're already making noise about staying there.

i'm going to suggest to the wife,  that we come up your way after this all settles down.  we'd love to do one of those beautiful hikes.  i'll let you know.  you too @-fish-
I'm an hour and 45 minutes from my door to getting on the lift at Crystal Mountain.   Supposed to be a weak El Niño this year, so snow may be iffy.

One of those guys I sent on to you (J.I.) would be able to help with the probating of the estate.  D-bag brother in law sounds like a real winner.

Very sorry about the passing.  If you're headed into town for any sort of services or follow up, let me know your schedule.

here is something weird that i'm not sure where I fall

went to washington dc - took pictures of all the monuments , including korean war memorial.  Did not take picture of vietnam memorial. WWII took pictures of my kids.  no selfies of memorials.

I’ll be there soon. I’ll let you know. I spoke with PR’s office and they referred me to Crumley Roberts. Not impressed so far.

Calling JI now.

I remember exactly where I was on 9/11.  I had just finished up my last stretch of survey work in N. Dakota for the summer a couple of days earlier.  It was my first day of Grad School at UWYO.  I was walking through the Union and couldn’t understand why everyone was gathering around all the big TVs. I was admittedly oblivious.  It took my professor’s announcement in my Economic Geography class to inform me.  Awful.

Had a bottle of rosé while watching the late game, but that's generally just enough to induce a mild buzz for me.  I don't really 420 that much anymore.
This warrants more study. I’m gonna have to give it another go, first time was pretty meh. I didn’t slather the mayo on the bread, I went pretty light. Any of you mayo heathens want to weigh in?  How heavy is the mayo on the bread?

I didn't, like, bathe the bread in mayo, but I gave it a solid coating.  I use Olive Oil Mayo.  The bread was perfectly cooked.  And I used three kinds of cheese:  Pepper Jack, Sharp Cheddar and Smoked Provolone.  :porked:

I am really a fat disgusting animal.

Waiting for the outrage

How damaging are they predicting things to be?  Out of state Family is concerned that it will be dangerous.
Well, they're talking a Cat 4 with outside potential of a Cat 5. Storm surge up to 12' in some areas. So, not a great outlook. And there is a potential that it may stall inland, which means potential for significant flooding inland.

I have two Facebook friends with birthdays today:  (1) a blind dog in Chicago, and (b) a guide who took us on a day trip to the coast of Morocco eight years ago.  Life in the internet age is weird.

Yeah I heard about the crash on the radio as I was driving to class.  I remember one one the Indian kids walking and in and joking “I’m indian I’m Indian it wasn’t my people”.

Then our professor came in and said it’s too bad they didn’t get the White House.  He apologized profusely the next class, I’m sure nowadays there would have been a Twitter ####storm and he would have been fired

Visited nyc a year after, obviously before the memorial, and the hole was still there. Chilling doesn’t even describe it.

please, if you adopt a small do, for everyone's sake.. remember it's not a human baby. or a cat. it's a dog. don't carry it around. don't hold it everywhere you go. you're not cuddling the dog, you're turning it in to a skittish, over protective, snarling, bitey freak.

and you're exacerbating the problem when you grab the dog closer, shush it, and get nervy after inviting people to pet it.

put the dog on the ground and let it do what dogs do... sniff butts and hump table legs.
