Fifty years ago I was that kid

you are about to be robbed

Hope you have some kid-lawn mowing insurance or you’re ####ed. It’s a very specific rider on your home owners policy.

Roverkid started high school this fall.   It was a big deal since she's always gone to a small private school (ex-wife's divorce demand) and was miserable the last two years.   Year started great--made the volleyball team, was making new friends, was excited to go to homecoming and football games.   Then she got a concussion at volleyball practice.   She's only made it to school for 3 half-days in the last two weeks, and is actually getting worse.   Last night she woke up and threw up in her bed at 2 in the morning.   Back to the doctor today, and now she's even more limited.   She's definitely going to miss the rest of volleyball season, and by the time she gets back to school full time, assuming she starts improving, she'll be a month behind in all of her classes.   Just crap luck.   I feel really badly for her.

That sucks. Hope she feels better soon.

Concussions really suck. Hope she gets better quickly. Rest, darkness, no screens and plenty of water are huge for recovery. I've heard certain supplements can help too, but that may be a bunch of crap.

Sorry to hear that.  I hope she gets better soon.  Make sure she gets lots of rest, and limit things like reading and bright lights.

Concussions are scary as hell and serious business. My college roommate lost an entire year to a concussion. Hoping roverkid has a much faster recovery.

The grocery store i go to is constantly moving stuff around and trying to get more modern.  The deli has a regular area where they'll do cold cuts for you but they also have a couple open refrigerated tubs where they've pre made half pound bags of turkey, ham, etc. The thing is they keep moving those around, so one week it's to the right of the deli counter and the next it's across the aisle next to the cheese.  I saw one of the guys that worked there and asked him about it and he apologized immediately. I guess a lot of people complain but his manager makes them do it. So i asked him the only logical question i could think of

Be honest, do you guys call it hide the salami

He laughed and said we do now.

So sad to read of roverkid's troubles.  You know I love that kid.  If there's anything at all we can do to help, let me know.  I don't know what that would be...but we're really close by if we can help cheer her up.

My cousin died.  He was 44.  Heart failure.  Abused his body his whole life and ignored doctors.  Don't do that.  Don't let people do that.  Help people.
Funeral today. I’m pretty ####ed up. Pretty much grew up with him. They played the song from the end of the first Star Wars as we all left. Really cool since he was such a fan and it was a family thing.

Love people. Live life. It can be so short.

sorry man, that is way too early to die.

Sorry to hear about rover kid. This would probably be a good time to get her into audiobooks and podcasts. I could be entertained for a year in low light with podcast and audio books. And booze. And some of the audiobooks will need to  be porn. For me, certainly not your daughter. Nor the booze.

We’re test driving SUV’s now. Did you know almost everything is over $40k?

Since we’re on the topic, she really liked the Toyota 4Runner.
Is this the American name for the Toyota Hilux (Europe)?  Top Gear UK did a bunch of crazy tests on the Toyota Hilux including putting it on top of a 20 story building and then blowing up the building, submerging it under the sea for a few hours, and lighting it on fire.  They also drove a newer model to the North Pole.  Seems like a pretty sturdy truck.  If you do a search of Top Gear Toyota Hilux on YouTube you can see the videos.  Here are some of them:

boom king is looking at SUVs, but yeah, you can't break a Toyota pickup. My dad put over 200K on one, and it was the quietest-running vehicle in the family on the day he sold it.

My favorite thing in politics right now is the large number of people who took sides in the Kanye v. Taylor Swift beef who have decided that they chose wrongly based on current politics.
