GM's Thread About Everything/GM's Thread About Nothing (18 Viewers)

Ok, I'm a wreck after watching the Glen Campbell doc. If you've ever known someone who's dealt with dementia....... Jesus. My dad did a lot of the same work-arounds he's doing. What is amazing is how Campbell could still perform on stage.

Earlier today my kid was petting our cat with a ruler. I asked him why. He said "he likes it". I told him...

I guess that means...

....he has a foot fetish.

Is McDonalds the worst job you've ever had? Mine was The Gap, chasing after a girl I liked. I lasted about a month and was horrible at it. Hated it. Took a smoke break and never went back.
Working at a credit card payment processing center. Had to run envelopes through an opening machine and pull out the payments slips and checks. So monotonous. It was exciting when someone stapled their check to their statement or sent in cash.

Running wire for fire alarms and internet through attic spaces on the summer in San Diego. 120 degrees on those attics. Nobody really in charge. If a bunch of kids die in a fire in a school in Rancho Santa Fe, it's probably my fault.
When I was working as a shipfitter's helper I noticed the electricians had it the easiest. So I bought a 90 page book on how to be an electrician, kind of memorized some of it and went to another shipyard and lied my ### off and got a job as an electrician. We were building the Staten Island ferries in Houston, then they'd drive them up the coast to Staten Island. First two weeks there I had wired the entire right side of the second level of a Staten Island ferry.... backwards. Did any of those ever sink due to electrical malfunction?
####ing rules

Probably better than taking its temperature with a pencil

Yeah. I'm probably never watching that.
My God, I'm still ####ed up from watching that. I had no idea it was going to be that unflinching. The confusion and anger in Campbell hit pretty close to home. They didn't hold back on that, nor the worries of his bandmates (including his daughter) that Campbell wouldn't be able to go on stage without screwing up.

Him continually scratching his head and not wanting to shower are exactly the same things my father did.

60 degrees in Austin this morning. Beautiful weather to sit on the back porch and drink Irish coffee while the boys brawl in the backyard. Good morning, people!

Gonna drive right by Avery Ranch in an hour. Won't even slow down, because a home-cooked meal in Sun City trumps any hot tub.

When I was 15 I took a summer job at Zesto, which I thought was just a local ice cream joint but I guess was a chain. I made $2/hour. They made you wear a kerchief/bandanna thingie that was a different color based on your seniority. I had to wear a green one as a newbie. Those yellow-kerchiefed women really lorded it over the rest of us. I worked there seven hours before quitting.
No longer a chain, although it might have been if Tanner had worked there as a teen

By 1955, however, Taylor Freezer Corp. had reportedly grown frustrated with managing a retail business and dealing with unhappy franchisees, so it abandoned the Zesto concept and left the remaining franchisees to fend for themselves.
We still have a few around here, and at least one occasionally sells a flavor similar to cinnamon red hots called Red Indian

Uh...

Cos, I consider it an amazing gift that I'm now probably the only lawyer who knows what really happened with the John J. Marchi. I'm going to cherish this knowledge forever.

The Huskies and Seahawks combined to ruin my mood this weekend.

Mine, however, was elevated!
That UW/UO game...man.
In years past, Oregon salts that one away early. This iteration was lucky to hang on. What the hell was Chris Peterson doing on that long 4th Q drive down two scores? He's a good coach but that was ridiculous. But not as ridiculous as Oregon's playcall on 3rd and 2 to roll out and pass when they should have run and chewed more clock. Bad coaching all around.

Seahawks demise gives me great pleasure. Bartender at our local bar had a good line about Matt Hasselbeck starting the other night. He said "I bet half the Seattle fans that come in here now with Lynch and Wilson jerseys have no idea who Matt Hasselbeck even is".

I've never had a flu shot before, and haven't caught the flu in years. Since I'm in contact with patients now, I'm required to get the shot. Got the shot last week, got the flu on Saturday. Neat.
