Frequent Flyer miles question:

I just got to Gold Status on American and have 26k miles.

I would like to buy a ticket that will cost 25k miles.

Will "using" the miles drop me back below Gold or, since I've earned the status, I will simply lose the miles but maintain my status?

You'll keep your status.

My wife was rubbing my back when this story runs on the news.http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/video/drunk-woman-allegedly-sneaks-into-zoo-gets-bitten-by-tiger-34916373

I say, drunk, kind of cutw, very crazy. I bet she likes cat shirts. Jusr like that my massage was over. My stupid bug mouth. <_<
$20 says I could pet that tiger, drunk or sober (me, not the tiger), without getting bit.
Yer on cowboy!

My oldest (Bo) got accepted by Michigan Tech.

I hear Winter Carnival is a blast.

Houghton is basically Siberia only with less joy. The average incoming freshman has something like 1600 SAT/30 ACT & 3.7 GPA. That doesn't exactly describe my son, who is fine young gentleman but pretty much the epitome of mediocrity. I'm nonplussed about this development as I was certain he would be slothing his way through community college next year.

Seriously, I don't think he has sniffed a 3.50 in years. He does go to a gifted & talented h.s. (Roper) but his only extracurricular activity is being President of the Japan Club. He does test well & his entrance exams were stellar.

Don't get me wrong, I'm absolutely thrilled for him. He wants to be a chemical engineer & this is his first choice. But I'm somewhat befuddled. I honestly thought dicking around & getting Bs & Cs had consequences. Apparently I understand nothing.

I can only surmise his mother's cocksucking skills played a role.

I used to work with a lady that went to Michigan Tech...if she's indicative of what they have to offer he'd better be prepared to jerk off a lot.

Don't get me wrong she clearly looked like the DTF type but she was pretty stout and not much of a looker. While she didn't look like former NWA wrestler Rick Steiner my personal nickname for her was Dog Faced Gremlin

"The male to female student ratio was 22:1 in 1960; since 1980 it has remained around 3:1. Michigan Tech's admissions office has enlisted female students and faculty to contact every admitted female applicant via telephone or personal letter in an attempt to increase female enrollment."

This is awful, for ####'s sake.***

***Coy update brought to you by bAbe, Tanner who didn't tell his sister physicality story, and that guy who posted in here a week or so ago saying he'd ####ed things up but then never posted again.

good hockey program up there at Tech. Plus you can ride snowmobiles a lot.
MacInnes was a legend but it was pretty lean for about 20-25 years. Pearson had a good team last year & they should be competitive again this year.Great hockey traditions. I'm definitely heading up there to catch a few games & learn the alternate verses to "In Heaven There is No Beer."

My son is pretty decent at curling. His cousin captained the MTU club when he was there.

OK, highlights:

Touring assisted living facilities with my grandpa. My grandpa is super-sharp at 95 and seeing people be condescending to him makes me stabby.

Dealing with my grandpa's 400-pound, 55-year-old stepson who lived with them rent-free for six-plus years and is trying to get 1/2 of everything my grandpa has, including by virtue of hiring a lawyer.

Pawing through, for Salvation Army and throwing away purposes, a 94-year-old dead woman's clothing and her...well, I forget that name of the thing, but my mom knew the name of it and told me it's something a person shoves up in themselves to keep their bladder from falling out.

YES, that's what I said.

There's more. I can't take it.

Maybe you should have just gone to the funeral. :(

Actually would have been easier, and as BL says humans are the worst. But, I feel like I'm useful right now, as awful as this is, and even better, my grandpa apparently was telling his whole family (my 95-year-old grandpa still has three 90+-year-old sisters alive - great genes!) that I was coming in after the funeral just to spend time with him. I hear that he said it all like it was such a great treat and he was so happy that I was here just for him rather than anything else.

Not to offend any religious sorts, but we had to have a public pre-dinner (or what he would call "supper") prayer tonight at Cracker Barrel - yes, that's what I said - which would not be my thing but he did the sweetest prayer about how we were always there for each other and we love each other "and always will". This was just among me, grandpa, my mom and Mr. krista. He is just such a damn sweet and great man, and despite my being non-religious I was happy to hear him do that and say things at the senior home like how he was so blessed. I do feel like being here now is best for him, but yes would have been easier for us just to blend in with the crowd at a funeral instead. I'm also spending my time trying to set up lawyers and realtors, which are two of my least favorite groups of people (with no offense to lawyers or realtors® ).

I am sure it is better for you to be doing what you are doing. But dealing with the step-son and the thing that prevents the bladder from falling out sounds...gross.

But, hey, Cracker Barrel.

I have only been to one a couple of times, but every time I do go I figure there is a good chance I will run into Phil Fulmer.

Plenty of smaller schools have lists of high schools like the school your son goes to - as long as the kid graduated from a top flight HS with a 3.0, he's an auto-accept.
