GM's Thread About Everything/GM's Thread About Nothing (18 Viewers)

Sitting in state comptroller office trying to convince them i did not purchase a 2005 ford and fail to pay taxes. Evidently my name is not uncommon. It's a real cluster braving several state and county offices. Super nice comptroller lady trying to get it sorted out.
Sounds like a party.

I am quitting the Internet. Tim booting shuke from the chess tournament just now is the funniest thing ever. No reason to stick around at all after that.
I really could not care less. Not sure what the rush is. And I just won my game this morning.
Why can't you average 20 moves a day, jerkass?
Really would like an answer to this.
And none of that "it's Christmas" crap either.

Well if I were giong to make excuses for Shuke I would start with his dedication to the eat off thread, but then I realized that he devours everything in front of him in under 30 seconds so  As pickles would say, MOVE OR QUIT

I was slightly bummed today that we had to get four new tires on a car with only 27K miles.

Then our new kitty, whom we've had for 10 days, appears to be on the verge of dying. We took him to the emergency vet yesterday and have an appt with the regular vet at 4 today, but I'm not sure he'll make it.

Then I learned that my college friend who went into hospice last week died about an hour ago.

Really need a do-over today.

I'm printing up T-Shirts that tell 2015 to go rightly #### itself in the ear. Can't wait for a calendar turn to 2016. This year has sucked.

Sorry for your losses. :(

He's doing very well, thanks for asking. Six days ago, he was terrified of having his finger pricked for testing and abhors needles. Today, he's pricking his finger 4-5 times a day and injecting himself with insulin nearly as often like an old pro. He's also gotten very good at carb counting and adjusting his doses accordingly. Tonight I'm taking him to basketball practice where I'll stay and talk to his coach (also a friend of mine) and make sure he's feeling good enough to practice for 90 minutes.

Hazel, however, is terrified that she's going to catch his 'daihreetes' and so she's keeping him at arm's length for now, highly dubious of our insistence that it isn't contagious.

I really hope the "#### 2015" shirt has the picture of Hazel seeking a band aid on it.

That's fantastic news. So happy to hear.

I remember a year ago when I was all "2014 sucked. Can't wait for 2015, it HAS to be better."

I'm not falling for that one again.

I feel like an awful person right now. Back "home" in Ohio and reading the local newspaper and the major headline is: "Coroner: Local man stabbed in throat."

And I started laughing because WHY DID THEY NEED THE CORONER TO FIGURE OUT HE WAS STABBED IN THE NECK!?

Sorry for your loss, K4.

Not to be trite but what's up with Charlie/Ben Konop?

He didn't make it.

Christmas evening he started getting lethargic and by Saturday was mostly hiding. We isolated him and overnight he vomited blood, peed in the bed, and basically just wouldn't come out from under the bed. Took him to the emergency vet yesterday, and that did basically nothing. By this morning he was having a lot of trouble breathing. We got an appt for 4 p.m. but by 1 I didn't think he'd make it to 4 so the vet took him early. Immediately put him on oxygen and checked his blood levels, which were completely out of whack. He needed a blood tranfusion but couldn't make it that long.

Vet only has guesses as to what happened. He was FIV+, which means any little thing could become a big thing with a compromised immune system. Her best guess is that he had a blood clot that triggered somehow when he traveled here, or that he caught some virus his body just couldn't fight off. He went downhill so quickly I'm still in shock. As of Christmas he was out and about enjoying his new home.

- So sorry for your losses K4.

- Sorry for your virility GM. Your boys are true fighters though

- Happy to hear Coop is coming along nicely GM.

- Sorry you got kicked out of chess by Tim, shuke.

I know this is trivial compared to real problems (sorry about the car and cat and friend K4) but I just spent about 8 hours and $100 in supplies painting a white basement ceiling a slightly different shade of white

Note: this is an older home so picture crossbeam and slats and all kinds of wires and pipes so I had to hang plastic on the walls and use a sprayer

Marriage is fun

Sorry, krista. I was all set to come in here and post about how 2015 was actually a pretty good year for me, but that doesn't do a thing for those that have experienced sorrow. Trying to be less of a jerk than usual. Hope it's green grass and high tides for everybody in 2016.

Some of us read Dr. Strange comic books when we were kids. Looking forward to the movie. :nerd:
I watched the Wacky Racers religiously as a kid. Doesn't mean they need to turn it into a movie.

I also COVERED my lunchbox in Wacky Pack stickers in elementary school. Can't believe Netflix hasn't made it into a series.

Extra curmudgeonly tonight, I see.
If that means "I'm an adult and not a retrad" it's cool.
