I bought a house two doors down that sat on the market for 6 months. Starting to understand WHY it sat around so long.
You collecting a set, Krista?
I do kinda feel like the the top-hat in Monopoly, buying up all the property on Baltic and Mediterranean.

But I'm hoping to sell the old house yesterday, once the remodel is done on the new house. If this were a game of baseball, we're in the 3rd inning.
Sounds like its in a really hot market that will yield a Thanksgiving closing.

Just found out my house I bought in Oct has moisture inside the vaulted ceilings and black mold. Gotta tear out drywall, insulation and roof off about 35% of the house. No way in hell former owners didn't know this. There was water leaking out of the recessed lights when the temps rose a couple weeks ago. Gotta let my tenants out of the lease 2 months early. Insurance will cover a bit of it but I'm probably out of pocket 10k.
If they knew it and did not disclose, you could sue them even in Texas

No ####, Romo can do anything other than major electrical and major plumbing but he rules and loves doing all the other stuff (hardwoods, Sheetrock, tiling, etc). Fly him to Portland and he's all yours on teh cheap.

Tempting. Very very very tempting.

Kind of enjoying the remodel process so far and feel like we've got the right crew inked to help us get everything done. Right now my friend from Mexico (Sosa) is living in the house and has done a remarkable job with the landscaping. Part of the reason this house sat around for so long was that the curb appeal was nonexistent thanks to overgrown trees, bushes and foliage. Couldn't really see the house very well and when you did, it was blah. The inside was even worse, but slowly and steadily it's getting better.

Going with bamboo flooring in the downstairs area. Anybody done bamboo before? Looks sharp and supposed to be 5-kid proof.

Had a late lunch at one of my favorite spots in Portland today, which is conveniently located next to the flooring and counter top store. I had two small beers with my French Dip and when I got the bill, noticed the gal only charged me for one beer. Not sure what came over me, but I pointed this out to her. She thanked me for my honesty and re-ran the check. Hoping this turn in good karma comes back to visit in a nice way soon.

I'm looking at buying my first post-divorce house. Found a house I liked and it had three offers on it the second day it was on the market. Aargh.
The market is hot.

My wife was sending me links to houses while I was at work. The homes were listed 1-2 days. I'd try to make an appointment, and they'd already have accepted an offer. The house I signed a contract on was listed for less than 24 hours when I saw it. I left work early that day. There were 10 showings and 4 offers that night. I got it a little above list price with a 3.625% rate. After inspection I had the price reduced to below list.

Now all he needs are some Irish to do a little brick work, a Pole for the plumbing, a black to put up a basketball hoop and a Jew to write up the contract. Maybe he could get fancy and hire some Chinese to put a mini railroad in like on Silver Spoons.

Q) Named "Sosa"?

11) Remarkable at landscaping?

+) None of the above you're being a wiseacre?

Phenomenal. Sauce is a recipe passed down for generations and when she hand rolls her pasta, man....it's out of this world. My two year old daughter is learning the trade now and despite her Scandinavian looks, she's all Italian blood on the inside.

Example A

Blonde and pale like her dad; meaner than a rattle snake like her Italian mother.

Just what every wife dreams of, to be described as "meaner than a rattle snake".

Pretty sure that for $5,000, Otis can help you with the landscaping

Man, people can be real jerks. Was watching this house flipping show on HGTV and the couple the show is about bought a nice looking house for $425,000 on a sheriff's sale. It was the type of sale where you buy the house after only being able to see it from the outside (or street if there is a fence).

When they got in, they found that the previous owners had totally destroyed the inside. They had put holes in the drywall, smeared feces on the carpet, broke every window, took a hammer to the wood floors and poured concrete in all the drains.

I understand being upset at losing your house, but that is seriously screwed up to trash the house like that on that way out.

The existence of people like that is a compelling argument for bringing back debtors' prisons.
