Kev, et al: there was conversation about A1C recently. Any tips on reducing? Romo is a solid pre-diabetic 6.1 and he's freaking out. He likes his sweets, etc., but not enough to put him there IMO.
Heavy drinking, bad carbs, gluten and other high glycemic goo is a more likely culprit.
Gluten is a protein. Fast-burning carbs are the enemy. Breads, pasta, stuff like that. The carbs in vegetables and legumes burn slower, and usually come with fiber, which also blunt the glycemic impact.
who knows I guess
Probably doctors.

I'll be at matador in west seattle thursday.
omg I ate at El Matador in Utah today!
:hifive: (although that was really meant for Drifter)
:(
you're more than welcome...but I've learned my lesson. it's a chance meeting.
Kidding.

I was thinking of proposing a mini-cornhole on a weekday evening at Jack's BBQ sometime in the near future.

Was thinking about you last night. This isn't quite as epic as having your crush favorite a tweet, but a PGA TOUR player liked one of my FB photos (montage of my Uncle Eugene).

OK, so I think Doug LaBelle II is more like a web.com washout...but still, dude is 40, has yet to work a day in his life, and has a smoking hot asianed wifie, so Big Hero status in my book.
Flying to GRR today. Staying at a bed & breakfast along the Flat River that reminds me of the family farm we used to visit every August for the Anderson family reunion. 100 acres of woods and river paths to wander along in the mud while I'm killing time the next few days.

Hey if you ever decide to go the self employed route, beware that not only do you owe regular taxes that you should pay in estimated quarterly payments, but as a neat feature, you also owe self employment tax over and above that. So, yeah, that's like 15% or so of what you earned in a year being due at once.

Yeah but it's only 12.4% on the first $117K. You only have to pay the medicare portion (1.45% x 2) above that.

WINNING

Also you get to deduct 1/2 the SE on page 1 of your 1040 to reduce your AGI.

WINNING

I'm aware. Fun stuff.

Also, I'm not receiving e-mail from most people, from my old e-mail address. Oh and my new e-mail address is on a black list thanks to a hack over the weekend so I can't send e-mail to most people. This is only day 3 though, no big deal at all.

Do you mean that next year when I file, I will get to reduce my taxable income by one half of what I pay this April 15 in self employment tax?

Considering he's not really overweight from what I've seen, it could just be metabolic disorder which is what I have. Has he had his Thyroid levels checked? How are his Triglycerides? There's a supplement called Cinsulin that supposedly can help a bit. I've been taking it for a while now and am interested to see if it had any impact.
Triglycerides: borderline high at 174. He hasn't been checked out otherwise, but I'll try to make an appointment soon.

Yep.

Year paid = the year you can deduct. All individuals are cash basis.

Which is why you always pay your Q4 state/city estimate NLT 12/31.

So the first year you get to pay self employment taxes and enjoy no deduction. NEAT!

Had a late lunch at one of my favorite spots in Portland today, which is conveniently located next to the flooring and counter top store. I had two small beers with my French Dip and when I got the bill, noticed the gal only charged me for one beer. Not sure what came over me, but I pointed this out to her. She thanked me for my honesty and re-ran the check. Hoping this turn in good karma comes back to visit in a nice way soon.
Isn't the shark move here to just over-tip and assume she did it on porpoise? Win-Win
I don't know what's wrong with me.

Sorry, I'm straight.
Yeah yeah. Most fun car I've ever driven. I love that thing but alas a roof over my family's head is actually more important.
Good car for a family of 7?
Guy at work got one of these after their 6th kid

They just had a 7th

Just think GM you're only another set of twins away from tying him
I always feel like a strong gust of wind is going to take one of those out on the highway. Plus, no windows? Pass.

What's stopping her? She's rich. This isn't Midtown Manhattan....she could move here yesterday.

You want me to set her up with my BIL who is a Realtor®?

She should aim higher. That's just sad.
I hope the Huskies lose to the Ducks for another 10 years.
:lmao:

Well sure, but you hoped that before I made that comment.

And it wasn't even as much a dig at Portland, so much as it was on the scope of her dreams, as you pointed out here:

We're going with GRR for Grand Rapids now?

We had an unbelievable February/March this year and it was one of the mildest winters ever. HOORAY CLIMATE CHANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

But it has sucked butt the last few days. Cold and wet. 70 by Friday/Sat though.

Triglycerides and tax law.
People helping people, guy

I have no problem with that. I'd just prefer those topics remain the side dish, rather than the main course.

So let's have some funny, weird or otherwise interesting stuff to offset all the helpful tedium.
careful. complaining about things in here will really upset some people.
Especially when that's ALL you do.

Got a nice house for sale in June....good yard and garden area. No chickens, though. HOA won't allow them.

Yay! Another $1,000 to pay a lawyer to navigate the stupid family law courts to modify my parenting plan and child support order to reflect what my ex and I agreed on nearly a year ago.

F'n lawyers.

I'll actually be in Minnesota convincing disgruntled Target people to come work for us. Fly in, recruiting event at a brewery, fly out. It's like being a rock star only sitting in a middle seat in coach.
I'm not disgruntled, but I am in MN!

Anyone know how long a triple bypass surgery should take? My FIL is having one now and my wife is freaking out because it's been longer than what we thought
