Hate youget there for the end of the 6th inning.Taking the kids to the Reds game tonight for "Star Wars night".
This will be my daughter's first game. We are planning on staying afterwards for fireworks. I have a feeling it is going to be a long night keeping her entertained.
I don't think I could even do a whole baseball game any more- let alone hang out longer for fireworks (fireworks sound better to me than the game). but damn- those first moments walking into the stadium and seeing the green field, crisp uniforms- hearing the sounds of game, hot-dogs and beer always taste better (even though I know outside of the stadium they'd taste like dog-food) too...but then by the 2nd inning, I'm done.
eta: dammit- I started typing all of this being so excited for your kid, and then I remembered how boring baseball is. still excited for you and the kid to share this first moment though...
Much better rates and easier to find accommodations in May. Regardless, that's a LOT of school to miss for a beach trip.A couple days doesn't seem excessive to me.-fish- said:Pulling my kid out of school for two days next week to go to California Adventure before attending a weekend wedding.Officer Pete Malloy said:Aaron Rudnicki said:good parenting, GM.![]()
Maybe it's because I'm getting old(er) but I'm getting really tired of so many kids missing so many days of school for bull#### reasons.
But she goes to private school, so I can do whatever the hell I want.
My ex-wife's best friend pulls all three of her kids out of school for almost two full weeks to go to Hawaii as a family every May. School gets out in a little over a month and Spring break is in April. W-T-F-?

Passed on that. Seats for that promotion were horrible. He's 12. Pretty serious kid, brings his novels with him everywhere he goes, saves up money to buy things he wants like a laptop. Likes to tinker things - take them apart, reassemble them. Decent soccer player and that's really the only sport he enjoys playing. He watches almost none of them. Thinks football is populated by cavemen, though he won our first family fantasy football league this past year despite knowing maybe 1-2 players. Into his music. Set up some sort of server for his buddies to play Minecraft and they all view him as an IT god. When we need a new TV or appliance, we have him research the best deal, price and reviews and then buy it. He thrives on that stuff. Loves planning trips that involved air travel and looking for deals on those. He's not like me at all.gm, i'm curious, how old is kellen?
my daughter and i got caught in a sudden rain fall on our walk home from school. it was glorious. we laughed the whole time, got soaking wet, stomped in puddles, the whole bit. it's cool being a dad
I love going to baseball games too.I love going to baseball games.![]()

Ahhh...here it is 8:14-3:109am to 4pm. His brother in 5th goes from 8:20am to 3:05pm.What time does he get out?Oh, it's ridiculous. Add to it all the frigging days they get off up here and I'm starting to understand Oregon's education ranking and graduation rates. His brother was pretty livid when he found that out this year until I told him he would be getting similar treatment the next 3 years once he starts 6th grade. Not much a deep thinker, this Cooper. Pretty sure he IS my child. What's this bull####?General Malaise said:He starts school at 9am
Good god, that's a lot of money. Hell, for half that, they can have one of mine. God good. They had budgeted anywhere from $25k-$35k for the adoption. The birth mother has NO money, was living in her sister's house which was recently condemned, has already given up at least 2 kids to be raised by family members because she couldn't afford to raise them. So my sister and her husband were going to be on the hook for supplying her with an apartment, groceries, doctors' bills, etc. until September 17th (the fake twins' birth date). On top of that, I think the birth mom gets ~$7-8k cash upon delivery.Sorry YSR sis.
I have a cousin who can't have kids so they went the adoption route. Got paired with a girl just out of high school I think, baby was born and everyone was happy. Two months later they get a call from the girl "Hey, turns out I am pregnant again, do you want to have another kid?" Cousin decided it would be nice to have another and have them be actual siblings so they went ahead and adopted #2. Two months after that girl called again, "Hey seems I just don't understand how this whole pregnancy thing works and it happened again, want a third kid?" Cousin said no. How much money do you get for having a kid and giving it up for adoption?
One particularly touching thing that happened yesterday was the email that the three siblings (me, brother and sister) got from my dad last night. We, as a rule, disregard any email we get from him after 5:30, which is Early Times time. This one was entitled "Some good news"
So all is better now!Which we all need. I went to Clemson today to discuss my parking. I got a better space for next year. Same lot, one aisle closer, and on the end.
oh holy ####
Oh, well that spot is definitely the good news that offsets all the adoption crap. I mean, with that spot he never has to put the car in reverse.
Doesn't mean you won't be loitering around Gapper's Alley around the end of the third inning looking for extras, right?I see what's happening here:It does feel like a minor league promotion.Sorry butTaking the kids to the Reds game tonight for "Star Wars night".![]()

You're missing a lot of games.I haven't been to a MLB game since probably high school (Cy Young was pitching). Pretty sure I'm not missing anything.

His 10 year old brother is my clone. Good student, but not an over achiever. Was asked to take the tests for TAG, but was politely informed 'not quite there'. Watches ESPN in the morning before school, watches most of the games with me, plays every sport we let him play and then backyard sports of those we don't. Has more friends than the rest of our family combined, gets along with everybody but is a fierce competitor when it comes to sports. He plays on my U12 team and doesn't shy away from contact from kids much bigger. Very thoughtful, well mannered, funny, great with his little sister.
Outside of looking a like, the two of them could not be more different than they are.
they sound like great kids. I was just curious as to how old he was in regards to staying home alone all day. But loved the insight. You're missing likability.I haven't been to a MLB game since probably high school (Cy Young was pitching). Pretty sure I'm not missing anything.
