GM's Thread About Everything/GM's Thread About Nothing (12 Viewers)

We white guys didn't have to mimic the old blacks guys to interpret their songs. The truth within remained even with our blue eyes interpretations if done right. .. like canned heat. Hite's alto and Owl's harp merged to create something real and new while as old as the hills.

I never liked the mindless, endless grateful dead jams, but i could listen to canned heat boogie all night and half the next day.

On the list of things you probably shouldn't do in the ER.......

Had to take my daughter to the ER Friday night, spent 6 hours there.

She had severe pain in her lower right abdomen, all of my internet research said probably Appendicitis. Bloodwork was negative for any infection. The Doc said she thought it would end up being an Ovarian Cyst. After that they gave her some morphine for pain. About 10 mins after that I watched her hand curl up, she was arching her back, kind of convulsing and saw her eyes roll into her head..... I ran out to the nurses station yelling "WE NEED A CRASH CART!!!!!!!!!!" :bag:

Doctors and nurses sprung to life, looked at me and stopped in their tracks, like WTF is this guy. I yelled that my daugher was convulsing and passing out and to get in there!!....... Two nurses and a doc ran into the room. One started pounding on her chest while the other pushed fluids through her IV. Finally she came back. They did an Ultrasound and found an Ovarian Cyst.

Man what a night. Up for 25 straight hours.
JFC. Scary, man. Pretty bad ### of you calling for the cart.

Thanks guys, she's still in pain but feeling a little better. No more morphine for her.

In think back and laugh now about yelling for the cart, she thinks it's funny too. I watch too much TV. But damn, that freaked me out. Really got the juices flowing, 25 hours awake and I wasn't even tired when we got home.

Can't imagine that Pack...hope she gets back on her feet quickly.

Rude

Go with a souvlaki marinade if you're grilling the chicken. Absolutely rules, you won't regret it

Mine is...

Juice of 1 lemon

1/4 cup of red wine vinegar

3/4 cup olive oil

Tons of chopped garlic

Salt

Pepper

Dried thyme (about 2 tsp)

Dried oregano (about 2 tsp)

Cheap, simple and rules.
Added to spreadsheet.
That is a quality marinade for chunks of white meat chicken or lean pieces of pork. Especially for grilling on skewers.

they don't work for me either
they don't work for me either. guess you can't link to archived posts for some reason.

but, anyone can find them the same way I did.

sorry.
Well sorry, but you're wrong.

I just tried search for chicken marinade, both with and without quotes. And got no results for either.

The search function hasn't worked since the big upgrade a few months ago, and the staff doesn't seem to give a ####.

I logged in with a non staff account and it worked for me. Not sure what else to tell you.

this was my thought too... reading that scares the #### out of me, even safe in my comfy office chair. having the instinct to get those people in there stat (and I love that you thought of the word "crash cart"... I would've just been yelling "HELP!!!!!")... wow.

Anyone back me up here?
are you not using the Google search, which is now the default?

if so, that's your error right there. the other search function was disabled because it doesn't work.
fwiw- I found what Aaron's talking about by typing - chicken marinade- in the search function and then scanning the results for jimtan. first response was us asking about it just now, next response- on second page of search- was the link to the original gmtan with the recipe. took about 15 seconds.

So this happened an hour after we walked in the same place yesterday (building is across the street from ours). Let's just say, we'll be avoiding it like the plague from now on.

jeebus- that's awful. :(

getting pushed onto subway tracks and #### falling from a building- NYCers fears 1A & B.

I was reading some article the other day that linked to an old story from the 60s or early 70s about a helicopter accident on the roof of the Pan Am (metlife) building above Grand Central. Helicopter tipped over and the rotors sliced through the roof, sending debris flying- including rotor blade parts, one of which killed a woman waiting at a bus stop a block or two away below on the street.

This scares the crap out of me. Me and my family were a few blocks away from here yesterday. With all the tall old-### buildings in Manhattan I'm surprised we don't hear about this more often.

another Frosty response:

Really good marinade: 2 cups soy sauce 2 cups brown sugar 12 oz. coke 1 T chili powder 1 T garlic powder few dashes sesame oil 1-2 bunches green onions use water or chicken stock if too thick marinade chicken 2-24 hours grill and turn often to avoid charrring
This was the one I was looking for. Wife was a big fan. Thanks. Used it yesterday to grill up a bunch of chicken thighs. Grilled brussels sprouts for the first time, too. Good stuff.

I'm on my laptop now, and I see chicken marinade search results from old GMTAN. From my phone yesterday, I did the same search and got 6 pages of results, none of which were old GMTAN.

twelve 55 gallon barrels (including three almost empty barrels) of what DEA labs have identified as pure liquid Lysergic acid diethylamide
Phish and Grateful Dead fans are already clogging the highways into the city
Linked story on that page:

Almost certainly another fake news item from another fake news item website. Still found it amusing.
