GM's Thread About Everything/GM's Thread About Nothing (7 Viewers)

My wife turns 45 in a couple of weeks but that isn't the real story. What's really cool is that a month or so ago she has seemed to have started menopause. She's constantly fanning herself like some stereotypical black woman that has caught the vapors. First person to bump off Mother Nature for this injustice will be handsomely rewarded.

May need a separate pole but if you had to pick one of these cities to fly into and then drive into central Mississippi what would you choose? Looks to be 2-2.5 hr drive in all cases

1) Memphis TN

2) Jackson MS

3) Birmingham AL

decent BBQ in birmingham
Memphis doesn't have better than decent BBQ?

Never been to any of these, but I'd pick Memphis easily.

Jackson actually IS central Mississippi, but the airport is tiny and flights in aren't frequent. What city are you going to? Memphis wouldn't be a bad option as it's on the border and close enough to Oxford (worth visiting if you're there for the coeds alone....my god, the Ole Miss Coeds  ).

I went to college there, so ping me if you have questions.

ETA: I did NOT go to fun, hot coed Ole Miss, though. I went to a crappy liberal arts school in Jackson where girls were less pretty.

Memphis BBQ is spectacular. Fun little town, even if it is a bit murdery (sorry, K4). Bars on Beal St. are really fun.

Even the lawd can't help you now. My wife is 56. I'd LIKE to tell you it gets better. :bag:

You know those clips where they show somebody pulling off some amazing feat even though you wouldn't think they had the skills? Like a nerdy, white kid winning a dance off or a fat guy parkwhoring over a wall or my wife not leaving half empty coffee cups all over the place?

Well this isn't one of those

Ahhh....yeah, Birmingham probably your easiest commute. Don't know much about Birmingham, though I've been through it once and remember it being better than I expected. I'd avoid Jackson altogether. If you have some time to kill, Memphis would be cool, especially if you can route through Oxford. Ole Miss really is something to behold. Cool campus, big magnolia trees, hot coeds and Faulkner or some such.

Grew up in Dallas. Thought Mississippi sounded like a cool place to go to college. Flew in there on a Thursday to tour the school and in a cruel act of deception, was tricked into thinking it was a utopia of parties and fun. Little did I know that Thursday was THE night to party. On Fridays, most of the hillbillies went back home for the weekends, leaving me, Jugdish and a handful of other sorry saps who lived too far away to go home on campus to twiddle our rods and invent ways to get wasted.

4 years in Mississippi was enough to launch my pastyasssssss as far away as possible. Been here since '96. You have NO IDEA how good we have it out here until you've lived in a place like Mississippi.

You two haven't met yet?

Should have spent Friday nights studying your spelling. Just saying.
3.1 GPA and Dean's List 50% of my time there. (4 years...none of this 5 years+ crap) :bowtie: Also dropped 400 hits of acid, huffed airbrush prolellent, smoked anything but tool, was so beloved at a liquor store that they gave me a bottle of champagne when I told them I was moving, had a steady stream of snatch, was VP of my frat 3 years in a row and fell down a flight of stairs when I drunkenly mistook the door for the staircase for the door to the bathroom. Let's not forget a little car jacking incidnet that left me concussed and broken skulled. It's amazing I can still tie my shoes let alone spell adroitly.

Love you so hard.

What the hell are you doing in Columbus?????/////2221
Visiting an engine plant

In the middle of August

In Mississippi

Should be a blast

Well technically the trip has been proposed so I'm hoping I'm deemed non-essential and they send someone else, but there's a good chance I'll be going sooner or later

Between our office tightening up the purse strings and me wanting to get the #### out of the south as soon as possible I doubt I'll be spending too much extra time down there

OMFG :lmao:

Starting a business is fun. I've sent 390 emails since Monday, we're probably going to get sued by my former firm, and my biggest client waited until the last possible minute to sign a fee agreement after trying for 4 days to get them to understand that we needed to file something for them by the end of business today.

And you don't get summers off.
