GM's Thread About Everything/GM's Thread About Nothing (11 Viewers)

crazy day here in my little town. after a summer of record highs and mild weather, summer came crashing to an end with a crazy storm, 60-mile an hour gusts, and sideways rain. Two fatalities today just in my town from trees falling on cars. widespread power outages.
:( Sorry to hear about the fatalities. Mr krista went out for a haircut just before things went south, and I wished he hadn't. Did make it home alive, though. After about an hour without power I called the PUD, and they basically laughed at me.

This is a scary time to have a house made primarily of windows, but the cats are finding it fascinating.
I don't really know where they happened, but some of the more foresty areas of gig harbor are pretty sketchy in storms. most of my friends here have lost power, but I'm on the main branch of the city line instead of out in the unincorporated areas. I have a little generator if I need one.

A ten-foot long piece of metal crashed onto our deck that we can only identify as "something that probably belonged to our roof."

have my one and only draft in half an hour. printed out a cheatsheet this morning, which is all the prep I've done.

at this point, losing power and autodrafting probably wouldn't be all that bad.

Do you have a metal roof? Lightning rods?
It's not a metal roof. Actually could be something relating to the gutters, something from the neighbor's house...hell, it could be from the marina considering how bad the winds are. It is now in our storage space along with a screen door that flew off.

Jesus. Do you have any kind of tape? Duct or masking? Put it in Xs across the big glass areas you have.

yeah, you're in tall tree central there.

we have two 100ft tall Doug Fir trees on the neighbors property to the south of us, but they're right on the fence line, so if either ever decided to blow over, the prevailing storm winds would topple them right onto my house, and they're both at the perfect distance that they'd reach maximum falling speed right as they hit the roof. But I love my house and neighborhood so #### it.

How's my favorite bridge?

Gish is a very good record, IMO. Radio nor MTV beat us over the heads with it. Debut album. Worth a spin 25 years later.

My FIL got me into Leon Russell during his two week stay. Love it. Also, Marshall Tucker Band deeper tracks have been worth my time, another FIL favorite.
I love Leon Russell, But when I saw him live a couple years ago he came onstage on a cricket electric scooter. Nothing about that entry says I'm going to rock your ### off. Last moth I went to a screening of a documentary made of him in the 70s and left well before it was over. But I still like his albums, especially Hank Wilson's Back.

God, I hate rounds of radiation treatment. Chemo's worse, but I'll swan dive into St Louis Bob's pool before I do that again. But radiation, for all that I don't mind it as much, ####s with me too. Especially my libido. I've got a really pretty, sexy lady coming over tonight that I haven't seen since April and usually...... well, maybe things will pick up once she gets here.

Hey - how often do you guys clean out your bellybuttons? I just don't really have a schedule and I'm trying to figure out if that's okay.

Just left a corn roast in Western MD. They had about 6 ears of corn per person. Maybe the ethanol subsidy thing is not as bad as previously imagined.

Well I am pretty sure life's about to punch me right in the #### then hit me with shovel.
Uh oh. What happened? Someone rang my doorbell at 6:30 this morning while my kids were asleep to serve a restraining order. Kids woke up screaming. Top that...?

Yeah, there are five(?) 100-foot plus trees on my property. I usually like them.
There is one on my property and I absolutely hate it. But, it's about 12 feet from my house and blocks a ton of sun to garden and possibly solar one day. I'm down with trees, just not that one.

We lost power today too. I finally got sick of stressing about when they'll get it back on and if we'll lose everything in the fridge and freezer every time the power goes out, so I just went and bought a generator today. Power came on 9 hours later, but dammit, I'm going to be fine the next time too.

Bring on the ####ty weather. And the snow. I want to ski this winter.
After twice having to throw everything in my fridge away because of losing power, I said "screw it" and installed a whole-house generator. It'll never pay for itself, but I don't care.
