I'm enjoying bone tomahawk on Netflix.

Big short was best movie of the year for me.
Agree. So effing angry all over again.
I liked the cannibal Indians in bone tomahawk better than the bankers in the big short
How gory was this movie, cos? I can watch a fair amount, but torture and stuff like slow-motion hacking of body parts can be too much for me.
It's got Kurt Russell for chrissakes, he started with Disney. You will be fine.

The big short on the other hand. ..

Both kittens have come out from hiding. The older one (5mo) is a night-talker. Talking at night. Loudly. All night. With the dean of admissions daughter. Oh, and knocking #### over.

I need a passport in three weeks. My last passport expired in 99. I see there are some expedite services that can turn it around in a couple days but they Aren't cheap. Does anyone have experience with this?

Yup, have done it twice in my life, it's a snap, find a reliable company that is certified/approved/whatever by the State Department, log on through the company's website, pay, and sign up. You will likely need to make or take one phone call from a customer service person for verification that you understand what you have to send them.

Don't screw around with timing to save a buck. Pay for whatever gets it in your hands with about 10 days before your trip to be safe.

Yep. Actually toughest part is getting a decent passport photo you can live with for the rest of the next 10 years. I think I was hung over and scampered into a Walgreens one Saturday morning and I'm still stuck with that. I look like a terrorist going in.

The passport office will expedite for you -- no need to go to a third party. There is an additional fee, however.

 My Kinkos-taken shot from this year is no prizewinner, either.

That's what I was thinking. If you show you are traveling g in the next 20 days or something they will do it fast. I'll start there. Thank you all for the input.

It's more expensive but faaaaaaar more convenient to use a third party service. And because they do this all day every day and you don't, there is little chance of a mistake. I wouldn't chance it.

I've used an expediter agency before to get s Chinese visa in like 3 days

Also just sent my passport for renewal standard service Dec 10th and got it back yesterday so if assume the expedited choice would be no problem to get it back in time

Yeah, there definitely is a convenience factor in using a service... just pointing out that it's not the only option.

In 10 days I fly to Michigan with wife, daughter and twins. In 15 days I fly back to Portland. Alone. Wife returns with kids and her parents in 28 days. That's nearly two weeks of glorious alone time, though I'll have my boys on my days, but they basically take care of themselves. I'm exhillerated about this and plan on doing a lot of things I don't get to do anymore. Like see movies or masturbate with the door open.

I can't wait to see Big Short and will probably see Star Wars. Will hit up restaurant bars I've always wanted to visit. Might try heroin. Need to install baseboards. Open for suggestions!

Seems like a good time for my annual request that proninja post that driver's license photo he once had.

Quick trip north? If it helps convince you, I spent $20 on pull tabs last night and won $100.

My grandma used to make chicken and dumplings a lot for our big family lunches on Sundays after church. So good. And so many great memories of those days.
I meant to like this post before. I have exactly the same memories (sub my grandma/family for yours, just to be clear).

Also remember that my grandpa would leave church and take the family with him if the preacher ran long enough that grandpa might miss kickoff of the Cowboys game.

:lmao: I bet half the church left with you.

When our preacher would run long, my grandma would leave early to start lunch or my grandpa would if it was steak-grilling day. We all left early if we saw the post-sermon song was Just As I Am. That stupid song has like 1000 verses.

As if last week wasn't crappy enough, It ended with me spending last night by grandmother's side as she took her dying breath.

I also have great memories of her chicken and dumplings.

Yeah. It's a rough stretch.

I didn't always get along with my grandmother. She had divorced my dad's real father and ended up being a spoiled, drunken trophy wife to the president of a bank who was about 20 years older than her.

Her #### didn't stink, everyone else was always wrong, not her. The woman, who when I was 15 promised me her car for my 16th birthday, sold that same car just weeks before my 16th birthday to spite my father whom she was having an argument with at the time.

Starting with that, there was a genuine hatred of her. There were 3 or 4 times that we went over a year without even communicating. One wrong word from her at a holiday dinner, or birthday party, and I'd be out the door, never to come back.

Eventually life kicked her in the ###, multiple times. Those are long stories for another day, but she easily could have just lit up another Benson & Hedges Ultra Light, worked her way deeper into the bottom of that bottle of Vodka, and kept being the surly little ##### that she was.

But she didn't. She stopped smoking and drinking (doctor's advice due to health issues) and when it was all said and done, she spent her last 20ish years on this earth a sweet, quick witted, always cheerful, little old lady. How that happened is beyond me, but I'm thankful that it did.

Are you implying that if I quit smoking and drinking, I'd end up a sweet, quick witted, always cheerful, little old lady?
