GM's Thread About Everything/GM's Thread About Nothing (14 Viewers)

My dishwasher finally crapped out on me this morning. It's been coming for a while now. Went to Lowes and they had a clearance on a Samsung model that's only 50 decibels (I think the one I have now would drown out an AC/DC concert) . I had originally wanted to get one of those high-end Bosch machines that are as quiet as a mouse. But, after thinking about it, I only run the thing like twice a week at most and all of the high-tech would be wasted on me. Anyway, $100 off of the floor model, 5% more off for signing up for a Lowes card, plus a rebate. Installed and removal cost will end up somewhere around $400.

I'm trying out the "sweet & sour kielbasa" (which is, by the way, also the name of my Barry Manilow cover band) recipe someone recently posted in the Crock Pot thread. It's another one I shouldn't be able to screw up.
1. Go to the cooking thread here. It's like 16-17 pages.

2. Find a recipe on the last or 2nd to last page of that thread called Pork Chile Verde (I quoted it once or twice recently).

3. Make it.

4. ????

5. Profit.

Seriously, you get this one down, prepare to rule the dojo.

Another win for Milos!

Since coshole has been on my mind the last couple of days, I don't know that I've laughed harder than watching Milos & St Louis Bob playing cornhole in Austin, Texas

My folks bought a Bosch dishwasher that's so quiet, it has a little red light that shines on the floor so you can tell it's on. :lmao:

I actually worried about that with the quiet machines. I'm way too freaking anal about finishing a chore and "how will I know if it's done its cycle?" was a real concern for my dumb ###.

Kev - At Springwoods Park and just finished my Bloody Mary. Bring me more vodka.

Blue crabs in old bay would be awesome right now.
I think I've told this story before but maybe not

A few summers ago we took a family vacation to Rehoboth beach Delaware

One night we went for crabs (I'm the only one who likes them but they have other stuff too)

So being a fatty I order a dozen medium sized crabs which based on them being the size of salad plates I think may have been for sharing but the waitress didn't tell me that so I get a mountain of crabs covered in old bay...it's cool I'm a fat ####

So my oldest (I think 4 or 5 at the time) starts saying I Don't Like The Smell I DONT LIKE THE SMELL!! and starts gagging and finally barfs a tiny bit in the bucket intended for crab remains

I've eaten like maybe one crab in this time and it's still getting to him so my wife takes him down to the sidewalk for a minute (we're on an outdoor deck)

My youngest soon follows and now I'm just sitting there with about 10 giant crabs left. No way I can sit and eat these by myself while they just hang out (already yelling they want to go to Funland) so I get a to go bag, only our hotel is a few miles away do I just leave them in the car on a hot July night and hope for the best

Get back to hotel a few hours later and ate the rest of them out of the hotel sink so The Smell wouldn't bother anyone.
No love like Dad love.

The Bosch we bought has that. The loudest the damn thing gets is when it drains and the water gurgles in the drain.
I bought one thanks to GBGuster's recommendation. What's even better is I make the kids load and empty it. They don't even complain any more. So now I have them doing even more chores. Of course they want to be paid an allowance which is fine. Like they don't get all my money any way.

that would have been good, i kind of froze. i talked about next year... no one did anything special on my birthday either...sometimes people do things special for other people doesn't mean they don't like you etc...but none of that seemed to help her much. I ended up just giving her a long hug and telling her "I love you" and "you'll always be my #1 kid" (she was the first). That seemed to do more good than anything.
:) NIce.

There's a line from the grandma in Malcom in the Middle. Something like "birthday party? In my village we didn't even name them until they were 5 and we thought they might survive."

My sweet & sour kielbasa turned out good. I think, next time, I'll add a little soul food seasoning while it's cooking.

E-mail sent to my cousin:

"Hey, is The Big Game at your house again this year or are we moving it?"

His reply:

"Oh you're going to make it? Are you sure there aren't some strangers you would rather be with out of town some place?"

"Yeah, but they're not getting together this year."
:lmao:

Just thinking about it, this will be 30 years I've spent every SB with him with the exception of Coshole. If you like smoking, cigars, cigs, pot, high stakes poker and gambling on anything, brother this is your place. Of course now we have casinos so we start Friday night just gambling like we got it. The greatest day of the year.

:lmao: Needless to say, tradition is something very important in my family. If I had to do it all over, I would do it again. So fun. Plus we hit that 25K square which was neat.

Christ, I forgot about that. I hit my piddly whatever-Guster-said-it-was, but you hit big time on that game

The best part of gm playing cornhole that day was i showed up late and spent the afternoon wondering if he was drunk spread of if that was just how he is.

As soon as the quarter ended, he called. "You happy, you having fun? Did you notice we just won 25k? I can't believe you're not here. You're miserable." :lmao:

He's right there at the top of my favorite people in the world. Smart, kind, doesn't really give a #### about most things the rest of us get stressed out about. After I broke my neck, he was the only one IRL that made sure to take care of me. Not even my hero, my Dad. Drove all the way from north STL to pick me up to go drinking on Sunday to watch football. He's one of those people that your life is better because you know him. Most would describe him as a degenerate. Which would be right. What they don't know is all the things he does behind the scenes. I aspire to be him.

God, I was so friggin' drunk that day. I remember pounding on the bar at one point during the game when the Ravens were driving and making inhuman noises (me, not the Ravens - though I'm sure Ray Lewis would have understood). Then the Ravens taking that safety and Guster spinning me around telling me I won. Then you congratulating me and saying "yeah, I just won $25k"
