What did you get clipped for?Well that was a refreshing 3 day time out. What's new?
I changed their quota and didn't deliver the message to them in a document (paper) form. They are challenging that, and seem to think that since I didn't print it and have them sign it that the change is void and thus they will be paid in accordance with the old quota, which will result in about half the team getting an extra $300 gross in the next paycheck.Challenge in what way?
Sorry they brought it up? Like fire them? TP their house? Flaming poop bag on frontstep?
Ohhh 3 days :rollseyes:Well that was a refreshing 3 day time out. What's new?
One side took over an hour and a trip to Home Depot.Zoom zoom, mother ####ers.
Sounds like a bargain. $300 x half your team members will end up saving your company a lot of money in the long run.I changed their quota and didn't deliver the message to them in a document (paper) form. So since they are interested in making sure everything we do abides by the exact letter of the law then some of the generosities I have provided them, generosities that are similarly ambiguous when it comes to employment law, will be changed to ere on the side of caution. Generosities like working from home some days, like having a manager modify their time sheet if they miss a punch. Etc. etc.
Serious question:. Why did you change their quota?I changed their quota and didn't deliver the message to them in a document (paper) form. SP = serious bizI don't know I jokingly called someone in the SP an ### hole. Maybe that?
Because when I took over the team they were massively underachieving. My plan is to raise their quota a little every few months until years end so that on target attainment meets company growth goals in 2017. They are being trained regularly to improve from being lazy order takers to actual salespeople.Serious question:. Why did you change their quota?
Justchecked and this post was deleted so yep. Basically I asked how to pronounce a 3rd string QBs name. Some guy responded with 'Doesn't matter' because I guess this QB is unlikely to be FF relevant. I replied with...SP = serious biz

The ringleader of this challenge isn't doing it because he cares about legal compliance but because he wants to show everyone how clever and smart he is. And I am not going to have a team that behaves like that.
That's actually pretty common practice. If the business is growing than salespeople should be given on target goals to make the money they were promised when they took the job. If they do better than expected, they should make more. But recalibration of expectations is common over time as a business grows. Many salespeople (myself included) target jobs where the quota is misaligned with what is possible as a short-term way to make tons of money. But there is an expectation that at some point the quota will be aligned with the business at which point many salespeople will move on.Ahhh...
Just asking because my wife went through this about 6-7 years ago. She signed a contract that included a bonus/commission schedule that promised X amount per X sales. Then when she beat the #### out of the quota by busting her ### they changed it..again and again until the quota was a joke.
There have been times when I have wondered how I ended up in this profession. I enjoy it a great deal but it brings tension that probably doesn't exist in a salaried environment.Annnnnnnnd....this is why I never went into the private sector. I hate "doing business".
He thinks small and he thinks like a union employee. There have been times when I have wondered how I ended up in this profession. I enjoy it a great deal but it brings tension that probably doesn't exist in a salaried environment.
But as with anything, there are good jobs and bad. I work really really hard to make my team as happy and comfortable as possible. I also provide clear growth paths and training for everyone that works for me and spend much of my day taking bullets on their behalf that they never even know where fired. So, once again, it makes me livid when stuff like this happens. The aforementioned ringleader was making 32k/year in customer service when I pulled him to my team. His salary and commission last month was about 8500 gross. And he lodged a complaint with out corporate overlords over $313 (in his case).
no offense, i love you Abe, but i've yet to meet a manager/boss who didn't think that he/she was magnanimous and amazing and fair and beyond reproachThere have been times when I have wondered how I ended up in this profession. Totally fair point.no offense, i love you Abe, but i've yet to meet a manager/boss who didn't think that he/she was magnanimous and amazing and fair and beyond reproach

What's going on here? Why don't you go ahead and scoot back on your banana seat. Scoot...back..on...your...seat. That's good. Now spit on the tip of the seat.
Yes, look at youI work 100% commission sales, and own a business that is also 100% commission sales. Wouldn't want it any other way.
Illustrative kid porn by a guy that teaches kids. What's going on here?
Just thinking about a sales job makes me wince, but I'm curious what your product is. What do you sell? There have been times when I have wondered how I ended up in this profession. I enjoy it a great deal but it brings tension that probably doesn't exist in a salaried environment.

Pretty sure it's Candy Corn.Just thinking about a sales job makes me wince, but I'm curious what your product is. What do you sell?
I've done both. The private sector is much more appealing to me than working for a government, but then I despise bureaucracy in all its forms.Annnnnnnnd....this is why I never went into the private sector. I hate "doing business".
It keeps me from having some mgr changing my quotas so I don't make "too much" money. I make whatever I'm able to. I can also lose money. I'm a trader. I worked for free for 6 months last year, for example. I haven't had a salary for 23 yearsYes, look at you
What's the return policy?I've got a wife for sale. Anybody? Abe? Free for the taking
Wouldn't you know there's an overly arrogant business term for being a decent human being.Generosities like working from home some days, like having a manager modify their time sheet if they miss a punch. Etc. etc.
In other words, keep screwing people over until people quit and only the desperate stay. That's actually pretty common practice. Agreed. I haven't read anything babe wrote, but I think he owes me $300.I think if my district tried to keep $313 of my money I might complain. Just saying.
I paid my way for coshole2013 when I could have gotten a free ride. Pony up, bAbe - and not in pennies, either!Agreed. I haven't read anything babe wrote, but I think he owes me $300.
? no one gets screwed over. They are paid fairly for the work done. If they are unhappy with any aspect of the job they can go work somewhere else. That's how most businesses work.In other words, keep screwing people over until people quit and only the desperate stay.
Buying lunch twice a week for them...trusting that when they are home on the clock they are working and not watching TV...not blocking websites on their computers even though I know that collectively they watched ~100 hours of Netflix while on the clock/in office last month...Wouldn't you know there's an overly arrogant business term for being a decent human being.
i pour sugar on both so... totally possibleInteresting. I always thought ice cream was just the nighttime cereal.
