GB - While I'm sure the venting helps.....hope you don't mind a few pieces of unsolicited advice wrt the money aspect....I know my brethren in the personal finance threads would agree with.  I'm sure you probably know this....but I guess it can't hurt to reiterate...or you can tell me to bugger off.

Take care of 100% of your retirement before you even think about college education.  Take care of 100% of your retirement before you even think about college education. Take care of 100% of your retirement before you even think about college education. Take care of 100% of your retirement before you even think about college education.

With respect to college:

  • Community College, then regular college is ok.
  • State schools are ok
  • Student loans are ok provided your kids understand what they mean (i.e. can't take out an assload of $$ to major in pottery)

Yours In Christ,

TF
State schools are way more fun.

Osaurus- Sorry I didn't get a chance to meet up with ya buddy. Best chance was my last day in Tampa after the Dali Museum, but we felt guilty leaving my maniac kids with my 70 year old aunt.

My turn:

I spent most of last night in the ER, good news is it isn't my appendix so I don't need surgery, bad news is I've got colitis, and it very well could be a chronic thing which means food instantly becomes a huge pain in the ###. There is a nonzero chance that coffee isn't a thing for me anymore. I'll find out more tomorrow, meeting with a GI doc. I'm basically a wreck, mostly doubled over in pain, pretty much every bathroom episode is like that "dumb and dumber" scene.

And to top it off, I'm getting wicked headaches everytime I move from a seated to a standing position. Tomorrow I see my sleep doctor, the GI doc, and my neurosurgeon. Getting old is really awesome.

My wife is almost 7 months pregnant and just can't do everything on her own like she's had to do the last couple days. She's nearing the end of her rope, which means I have to find a way to do a lot of the things in addition to work, feeling like I've got a dirty bomb in my abdomen, and recovering from brain surgery.

But, on the bright side, I've lost 13 pounds in 3 weeks due to being a fanatic about what I eat. And hey, GI problems make it even easier to cut calories.
Twins?

Is that your back patio? It's pretty impressive, so you've got that going for you. I wish I had that. Imagine not too far away, you could be doing some high class chilling back there with your Comely daughter's doing homework in their rooms

Have heard of the FL Man stuff, but didnt realize there was a movie.
Howdy neighbor.  The 863 is an "interesting" place.  Polk County is one of my clients so I will be nice.  Hope you get to move soon.

Agreed.  Looks like a great patio to carry a kid around on while imagining how much fun everyone else is having at life.

Nashville is a cool town. If the company is good you will have a great time.
:goodposting:

Mrs Limp agreed to have us tag along when a friend wanted to take her boyfriend there for his birthday. Not a trip I was looking forward to, but came away more than impressed. A great party town. Will probably get back there in 2018.

Jesus man. Sorry to hear that.

And I didn't know about #2 on the way. Congrats?

What I'd like to know is what the hell that massive jerk was after finishing that beer was all about.

GL Ninja, hopefully no major changes will be necessary and everything else checks out fine.

Don't sweat it.  I'm actually up in your area once a year now on average.  Another time.

I'm supposed to be going to Nashville for a bachelor party in December. Should be a blast. (It won't)
Nashville is a real cool town.  Check out Printer's Alley and the Bourbon Street Blues and Boogie Bar and Skull's Rainbow Room

Any place on on Broadway downtown can be cool all bar's have live bands, Tootsie's Orchid Lounge has 3 levels with 3 stages all having bands playing on it.  Rippy's is a cool place and has pretty good ribs and pulled pork sandwiches.  Also some cool places in West End near VAnderbilt (and Music Row)  Winners Bar, Losers Bar, Red Door Saloon, The Tavern

furley, I need Ty Montgomery to save my magic football season.

Can I get a projection on his stats tonight?
should he heavily involved in the offense. Abbrederis out, Adams concussed, Janis not a factor.

no run game to speak of

i expect them to lean on him pretty heavily

8 catches, 90 yards, 1 td. 6 carries 20 yards.

caveat: i am NEVER EVER EVER right about this stuff

 to Bourbon Street Blues and Boogie Bar. We got in there around 4:30 in the afternoon and stumbled out around 10:00. Fully intended for it to be a one drink stop. That's until Phil (owner) let himself be known. He sat down and BSed with us for about an hour once he heard me ask who Phil was after seeing the "This seat reserved for **** unless Phil is here" plaque on the far back high tables.   The guy treated us like ### ####ed royalty when we were in there. Great experience

I know this is minor compared to what everyone else is going through, but since we're venting... My kid is on his fourth (or fifth?) ear infection in the past few months.  The antibiotics make him really gassy so that when he does fart it stinks like there's a dead armadillo up there.  Unfortunately he usually just ends up in pain and crying because he's unable to pass gas.

And the Motrin we give him for fever amps him up so nights alternate between him wanting to play for two hours and then crying for two hours because he's in pain from the gas.

At least I had the common sense to get snipped the week after he was born though.

And I still have a job somehow.

Mylicon drops? it's my default recommendation for gas problems with kids

work in a small'ish office. 70/30 women to men. one bathroom for the guys. two stalls, one urinal.

unwritten rule is one guy at a time in the stalls. get in, get out if someone is in a stall but you have to piss.

in the small group we have lots of quirks

1) the guy who smokes way too much. you know when he has been in there be cause the room reeks of smoke for an hour after. not sure he isn't smoking in there like it's high school again.

2) the guy who weighs himself in the kitchen, takes a ####, then weighs himself afterward. he also pulls off one square at a time, wipes, repeat until finished.

3) the guy who combs his hair after he pisses but doesn't wash his hands.

4) the guy who refuses to touch the door handle so he waits for someone else to go and let him in

5) maybe the most bizarre and as yet unsolved. the guy who spends 30-40 minutes on the toilet. he moans a lot.... and spits in the toilet constantly. i'm not sure if he's dying, has horrible hemorrhoids or he's jacking off in there. i know he's hitting the booze, coke and painkillers pretty hard so maybe he's just incredibly constipated?

i'm sitting here about to explode but i'm not going in until he comes out.  we're going on 30 minutes right now. only way i know that is because i've popped in a couple times, heard him moaning and had to duck out.

if he doesn't come out in another 30 am i obligated to check on him or do i make the paramedics do that?

Oh yeah, work sent us a "confidential survey" they want us to fill out. No way I'm doing that, right?
friends with a guy at work who issues these surveys and is responsible for compiling the data.. pretty big company... none of them is confidential. they know exactly how you responded.

Check above the ceiling tiles for contraband and/or soiled underwear.
