GM's Thread About Everything/GM's Thread About Nothing (5 Viewers)

fwiw, Tanner repeatedly announced that he was getting drunk prior to losing it. In hindsight, it wouldn't have been an awful idea to follow his lead.

ETA: The drunkenness, that is, not the losing it.
Any links to the tanner meltdown posts in the political threads...or highlights?

I really wouldn't even care but I lost quite a bit of $ backing hillary so I'm a little bitter about it.  On the bright side it was house $ but it still sucks

Oh and I have to buy my boss lunch
Also I should add how bothered I am that my 7 year old impression of our president is that "he doesn't like people that are different".   We're pretty apolitical and I know his opinion is influenced by negative campaign adds but for that to be his takeaway really sucks, and that I can't really discredit his opinion sucks

I think I have the only 5 year old on the UWS in NYC happy with Trump.  Of course all he really knows is that he has friends in Trump buildings and went to Preschool in one as well, but it's sort of ackward to say the least.

I don't recall anything too spectacular, mostly a bunch of "#### you, you're all morons." We got a pretty good sense of it a page or two ago, IMO.
This, similar posts in Capellas thread IIRC, nothing like Abe. GBABE seems to have a lot more going on and the election may have pushed him a bit too far.

Guys, stop with the politics.  Not here.  It happened and some people are happy and some people are sad and there are literally 29 threads on the front page about it plus every other site everywhere if you want to talk about it.  Let's continue to have just this one place for people who don't want to talk about it and still want to be part of this community.

This feels like one of those "check in safe" posts now.

We have:

Looks like bostonfred is here now, too.  I think that's it; we have enough to start a new society.

Also, could someone let me know if any of the billion links he's posting is worth clicking on?  Where's Tiger Fan?  He is usually in charge of this for me.

I'm not really a "good guy" and am a fringe JimTanner, but I'm here. I know I'm pretty much the exact opposite politically of the majority of posters in here and I'm certainly not happy that Trump won (although I'd be equally unhappy with a Clinton win so I expect that's where I diverge from most in here), but I am truly sorry that so many people have been given reason to believe that there is more hate, bigotry, misogyny, etc than what I believe there truly is in the US. There are quite a lot of conservatives that I know, including many in the FFA, that despise Trump and what he stands for. A lot of us didn't vote for either candidate. Some may have voted for Trump with a sick feeling in their stomach. But please know that there are lots and lots of good people out there still. Even people who may have voted for Trump. Please don't lose hope. Please don't turn your backs on huge groups of people. Please try to keep an open mind and give people a chance. There ARE plenty of people that quickly prove to be exactly what you believe them to be. I've certainly spent enough time trying to put them in their place while keeping a dialogue open over these past months and this morning. We only encourage more fear, more anger, more hate and more hurt when we overreact on both sides and act as if the world is over. This does nobody any good.

Yes, Trump is horribly unfit for office, but creating a climate where people are terrified is totally unhealthy. We need to grab some perspective and settle down. There are still plenty of grownups in our government and plenty of rational individuals. And we all know that Trump will say and do anything to make himself loom good. He was willing to say whatever it took at any time, even if he claimed the exact opposite the day before, in order to get elected. He has a strong sense of survival and will certainly be more moderate as President in order to keep his position as long as possible.

For those that are disgusted, let's work together. I may hold views that you totally disagree with, but I promise you that I hold no hate for people and am a good person. Or at least try to be. There's plenty of us out there on both sides of the aisle.

On the downside, I'm kind of long winded.

Anyway.....back to the beach! I planned ahead and beat all you suckers who now want to leave the US. Punta Cana is magnifico!

I think when people realize what little control they truly have, they are generally happier.

I like this guys work - good read here

Still here, BTW

My daughter has a D2 scholarship offer for tennis. She is undefeated in league since the fourth match of her junior year. She's been beaten soundly in post league play, but I know there's no one in league that can take her. Her closest competition is her team's #2. They dominate doubles. She had a schedule conflict. A Friday - Saturday tournament, and a Saturday - Sunday community service dealio that included 6 Flags Magic Mountain with tons of friends. Inexplicably she and the #2 lost on Friday. So they were free to do the other without missing anything. She gets home and starts telling about being injured. She has a big bruise on her shin. That's why she lost. Uh huh. I said, "You threw the match so you could attend all the other stuff." She giggled. If she was 12, I'd be pissed, but she's 17 and I got nothin'.

I missed this latest edit. So I am not a huge and am more attractive than everyone pictured? Guess that means I'm winning!!!11!!!!!!1

Pretty sure we're supposed to band together and do what we can to make this site, and country, better tomorrow and the day after that, etc. Every step won't be one forward, but to abandon ship, like a bunch of rats, is more pathetic than ducking out the back door and leaving your entire constituency hanging out to dry while letting your campaign manager fill them with false hope.
Abandoning this board is quite the opposite of abandoning the political process.  Instead, it frees up real life to help real people who are about to have some tough times.  Good luck and God speed to you.
ugh... sooo sorry to hear about your client- just awful business.

I get the time-suck this place becomes... but there can be a balance achieved between real life and the FFA. :oldunsure:  ... I think. No need to throw the baby out with the babies. water. it all sucks. whatever. throw it all out.... but then come back in here and tell us about it.

5yo floppinha, as I was dropping her at school, rubbed her bagel-buttery hands on my work pants as she hugged me good bye. work pants I need to wear for two meetings (one very important with a heavy-hitting potential client).

took the citibike to get up to my first, less important meeting, and it started to rain over the last 10 blocks. got to my meeting in a damp state, and the things I was worried about getting fired over a month or so ago... which were finally delivered yesterday... are wrong and don't work. and my contractor is a vocal pro trump righty (but is also a sweet and considerate guy thankfully, and knew better than to say even one word to me this morning). but I still had to explain to the client that these things that they've been waiting on for freaking ever- don't work. and explain it in butter drenched pants (which their housekeeper recommended that I rinse the affected areas with warm, soapy water... no go). and I just realized that my FF team lost by a single point after winning going into MNF and having Graham and tierod going strong. get to work and somebody offers me a shout wipe... which has now created its own stain which abstractly surrounds the butter like the shroud of turin. debating running out and buying new pants before the meeting but I'm literally that cash poor right now that I'd rather tie a scarf around the stains or anything else than spend money.

I need a win today. I need a little sumpin sumpin. something even bigger than taking the two scarves out with me. even bigger.

See I think you need to flip the script here.  You need to let the next client or whatever it is you're meeting with next know that you are so mother forking well off that you can afford to rub butter all over your pants.  Maybe go out and get some matching roumalaid (sp?) sauce and rub some on your shirt, let them know you're eating fine seafood for lunch in addition to your excess buttery breakfast.  Plans aren't right?  Fyuck you, they are now.  Why?  Because I just ate shrimp and lobster as a snack, that's why.

I'm thinking of just going pantless. but I like your idea better.
