GM's Thread About Everything/GM's Thread About Nothing (9 Viewers)

So I was a little coy earlier when I was still trying to figure out what the heck to even do, but on top of all of the other really crappy stuff that has happened over the last 3 years, my wife is now officially checked into an inpatient Behavioral facility to be treated for what is most likely bipolar disorder. The last month, and especially the last week, has been quite a wild ride. Thankfully she at least was able to recognize that her mental state was a problem and was in agreement to be admitted.

I'm incredibly drained right now. Thank goodmess my parents are retired and heading out to help out. And I many here have dealt with churches that just act crappy to people, but man I'm thankful that the people iny church aren't judgemental jerkoffs that pretend they have it all together, because I'm pretty sure I'd be my wife's neighbor right now if I didn't have a good support structure in place.

Funny story though, my wife got transferred to the facility from the hospital last night. I wasn't allowed to go with her, so she called me after she got checked in and told me that she met a woman who said her name was "God". My wife told her that since she already has a God, she wasn't going to call her that, so the woman decided she was going to call my wife Beelzebub. :lmao:
Wow this is rough.  Glad you have a good church that will rally around you.  Prayers for you and your wife man.

Bi-polar is always in the back of my head to watch for in my wife and kids; wife's father is bi-polar.

Hope your wife is able to get it manageable for herself and your family. My wife's dad has been in denial and bad with his meds to the point that we have no relationship with him.  Other issues as well that may or may not be related to that.

What signs do you even watch for?

What is Santa Con?
Pretty much like all the other Cons. A bunch of overweight guys with questionable facial hair emerge from their basements once a year to put on expensive costumes with mythical creatures while mothers pretend not to be aghast that their kids think these guys are cool.

it's herd-mentality frat kids here in NYC. already amateurs, now en masse and more beligerant and ruinous than normal.

I think it can manifest in all sorts of ways, but generally, getting less and less sleep, inability to control themselves in some way (spending is a typical one), elevating the importance of minor things, misplaced priorities, inability to focus, questionable judgement, etc.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Certainly wasn't what I expected to have to deal with, but it's just another challenge to get through. A tough one to be sure, but we'll get through it.

Was at least happy to talk to some people I know who have experience in the mental health field in our area and have said that the facility my wife is in is a very good facility. So that was encouraging at least.

This should spur the creation of an Anti-Santa Con Crowbar Unit.

I would be a member of that club.

Shocked someone didn't hit that guy. What a giant dickmitten.
I would be going to jail. I wouldn't hit him. I would pick him up and carry him out. He'd press charges, because he's a dickmitten.

I don't have children. But no one should just skate after doing that. If I have to do time for doing the right thing, I'll do the time.  :hot:

But...but....Jesus!!!1!!!!!!!!1!!!!!!!!one!!!!

Also, I don't have faith. But if a Nazarene Jew was actually the Son o' God, he would meet this jackhole at the Pearly Gates and curb-stomp him all the way to Hell.
I agree GB, it's insane and I love that they (faith foiks) usurped a pagan holiday as their own.

TPW for Grove. You have some tough sledding ahead. My bipolar friend always struggles during the holidays, and now her youngest is moving out. I keep texting her occasionally, but she usually pushes me away during the lower parts.  :kicksrock:
MOst women push me away from their lower parts, too

Went at it pretty hard this weekend. Started Saturday at a friend's house at 3:00 in the afternoon and didn't stop until 6:00 Sunday morning. Slept it off over there and headed home around 10

Then right back at the bar at noon yesterday and went until about 10.

Trying to pick up Homer's slack is going to be the death of me.

Where you drinkin at these days?

Disappear for a few months and you feel like you've forgotten everything that's ever happened.

Grove - sorry to hear about your recent troubles, but it seems that you've got a pretty good attitude heading into it.  Thoprawishes, GB.
