so, got the dreaded "office lunch" invite. I work for a big company and my group here is small, 9 people. we do similar things, but not the same exact thing. we report to the same mgr. who is located in another state. so, lunch was today and mgr. came up from where he lives to be in the market for 2-3 days, take meetings and join us for lunch. he is my 4th mgr. in 4 years. at lunch he says he can't pay for everything, he doesn't have authorization to do so from his boss, but he'll buy 2 large appetizers for the group.
what's the etiquette call here? in the past, our mgr. has either expensed or pulled out a personal card to pay and treat. I figure the cost was around $10-15pp. Me personally, I would pay no matter what. he left before all of us to take a meeting, we all kind of snickered.
wanted to engage the group here..........
