No ####. I last posted in the Russian ties thread at 2am. I slept 8 hours, then it took me four and a half hours just to catch up.

My wife got me to try on some pants from the men's department at Zara (Spanish fashion retailer, for those of you from the back woods) when we were in Miami a couple years ago.

I am 5'10", weigh ~185 and have a 33 inch waste.

I am not sure it is possible to express how ridiculous those pants, which were supposedly my size, looked. :lmao:

Apparently, the trend now - at least when they are on vacation - is to wear hipster hats. The guys would wear them even in the pools and the ocean. 

I realize I'm painting with too broad a brush here, but the Spaniards were by far the rudest of all the nationalities to the staff where I was staying. I know there's some 600 year-old cultural stuff going on, but sometimes it was cringe-worthy. To out-rude Americans on vacation is clearing a pretty high bar.

of all the places i've been, by far i felt most like an outsider in Spain. not even close.

Other than the woman throwing a cappucino cup on the floor because she saw a crack in it (it wasn't leaking before she shattered it), nothing real specific. But, I rarely heard a "por favor" or "gracias" to staff when ordering and not one person that I saw tipped. Tipping isn't necessary at this joint (and I know there's more cultural stuff involved with this vs the way we roll), but many of them were also the highest-maintenance. I dunno - I've been to Mexico many times and it's always the same kind of attitude.

I had no idea until last Fall when we went to Disney World.  I think there were more Spanish speaking guests than any others.  Plenty were fine ...but plenty were not.  They wanted to cut in line, let their kids be unruly (pushing, etc) and I almost got into it with what a appeared to be some kind of "younger dad bad-###" (guy would have killed me).  

We were in line at the flying Harry Potter ride (Universal) and this guy and his family were just way on top of us in line, I mean the kind where the wife clipped my and my son's ankles with their stroller a couple of times.  I was talking to my wife and let about 6 ft. of space develop with the people in line in front of us.  The wife leans in and attempts to go around us while saying something in Spanish to me.  I gave her a dirty look and shook my head no, and stepped forward to not let her cut in.  

Then giant Mex-bro husband ...guy was at least 6'4", had a big barrel chest and dressed like a biker (red kerchief bandana headband) then leaned around and said something about not disrespecting his wife.  I looked at him and said to give us some space and it wasn't appropriate to cut the line.  Probably shouldn't have done that.  

So now he's making everyone around him uncomfortable as he is raising his voice and saying #### to me every minute or two trying to provoke/embarrass/threaten me.  I hear someone in line saying they are going to go get security.  In the meantime, my son, mr. juijitsu is itching to punch the #### out of this guy.  I think this too would have been a bad idea and I was able to keep him from doing something stupid.  

Security comes by and this guy straightens up some but doesn't miss any opportunity to give me a threatening look ...and of course the "movie kiss" move ...like come get some ... #####.   

If I want to get my blood pressure up, all I have to do is think of that ####### and his ####### wife.

It's a guy who is around from time to time, but isn't a regular in the FFA any more. I don't know if he has ever been in GMTN. I would guess so, but I'm not going to look it up.

I was never going to step foot in a Disney ever in this lifetime and after reading this, pledge same for any next lifetimes.  

 
My nephew's high-school graduation is next Wednesday night - highly convenient timing for those of us who have to come in from out of town.  I'm looking at his graduation registry at Target.  This is a thing?  I guess it's a good idea for purposes of getting stuff for college, but I didn't know this was a thing.  How long has this been a thing?

What could you possibly want other than cash and maybe a nice cooler?

I'd have been pissed if I got a bunch of desk organizers and fidget spinners that I had to pack up and take to college with me, only to find out none of that stuff fits in the dorm room.

That's awful, but since you brought it up, what's the going rate for the following?  Assuming cash and none of that registry nonsense...

OK, glad to know I'm not the only oldster who didn't know registries were a thing.  As Binky mentioned, I'm just doing $$$ anyway and I wonder the same thing you do.

For my nephew, I guess I have some idea what is appropriate, but does it matter that I'm spending about $2000 just to go to the freaking graduation?  I guess not.  I tried unsuccessfully to convince my mom that the kid would be a whole lot happier if I just sent him that cash instead.  Bah.

But I wonder too about kids of friends.  What is appropriate?  My main concern is a formerly close high-school friend whom I see very infrequently and haven't seen her about-to-graduate kid in...6-8 years?  But the kid is really great, as is the friend.

Early November I came down with a horrible depression/malaise/despondency. I felt horrible mentally, physically and spiritually. Its been a real ##### and my close lones have been concerned. But the last few days, I'm feeling so much better. I suddenly have hope for the future and a reason to go on. I have no idea wtf was going on with me, but I'm thrilled that it seems like resolution may happen soon and I have hope again.

 
Today was my son's last day of Nursery School.  His wednesday schedule was a little different, and we had a hard time with transportation for him as a result so I wound up working from home on Wednesdays to run some chauffeur service.  It was nice in the mornings as it was the only time I ever get the house alone to myself anymore, but the afternoons are hell, because the boy just does not respect the fact that I am actually working (or dicking around on the internet, same thing).  Anyway, I have taken advantage of that am alone time and I fear that now that school is over I will no longer be able to observe #wackoffwednesdays as I have grown accustomed too.

Just thought I'd share.  Carry on.

I went to sleep away camp and it wasn't by my choice since I would have preferred to stay around and spend time with my hometown friends instead of my part time summer friends.  My parents just wanted me and my brother out of the house during the summer so they can go on vacations and stuff.

Speaking of morons... A friend of mine can be frustrating to deal with.  It’s often hard to distinguish between him pretending to be stupid just to get people off their guard; pretending to be stupid because he couldn’t be bothered to think and wanted someone else to do it for him; pretending to be outrageously stupid to hide the fact that he actually didn’t understand what was going on; and really is just being genuinely stupid.

mangoes and avacados... I cut in half, and make slices lengthwise on the inside of the thing with the skin still on, doing my best not to cut through the skin. then, depeding on the size of the pieces I want to end up with, I make perpinduclar slices, creating a grid. then turn it inside out- or concave to convex- and I've got squares of mango/avacodo that are easily cut along the skin to create the pieces I want. 

I do this on a cutting board- but I could see particularly fancy people doing this in their hand. I'm imagining this method is what's leading to the knife wounds... cutting through fruit/human skin at the same time.
