GM's Thread About Everything/GM's Thread About Nothing (27 Viewers)

That makes so much sense. All these years arguing politics, and you weren't arguing with us, you were arguing with your father.   And with your rich dad poor dad background, of course you identified with your mom.
I was always closer with my dad. Nice psychoanalysis though.

I'm socially liberal, but my overall view is more conservative. But I've come to realize it doesn't really matter, we have the worst political class ever.

@krista4 serious question - do you keep a journal? For most people I think they're worthless but for your specific problem it sounds like what you need is structured time to release those octopus thoughts. It doesn't have to be written down.  If you get on the treadmill for half an hour a night and just wall and think about stuff that works too. But it sounds like the specific thing you're dealing with is a need to release that stuff and, an bent a proper outlet for it,  your brain has learned that midnight would be a good time because you're quiet and not doing anything else and you get some intrinsic reward from thinking about these things because you like being introspective. You're probably getting a tiny dopamine rush from it.

Also worth reading up a little on serotonin. Pick an article any article... http://www.healthline.com/health/mental-health/serotonin#overview1

I am not a doctor, and this is not medical advice.
I don't journal.  Thank you for the advice.

When we meet in person, I like to bet any female that she can’t touch her belly button with both elbows.
Rethinking the dim sum.

Did I read somewhere The Gong Show is being re-booted (shocking, I know)?
This seems like a bad idea.

So last night some buddies and I were enjoying some beers at a restaurant that is next door to a music venue. Last nights act? Corey Feldman and his angels. Naturally we had to check it out and it was an absolute train wreck, just glorious. We only stayed for 3 songs but it was everything we could of hoped for.

Rules.  What % of people in the audience do you think were actual fans, as opposed to people there just there to see ridiculousness of it?

You must share much more.  Much, much more.

I haven't checked but assume this is his daughter.  I might have misunderstood your ####ty syntax, but otherwise why would you say something so awful?
Sorry, I screwed up. Was thinking about some Mr Pack posts in other threads. I will delete it

Sometimes I read something or see something at work that makes me realize that people with a lot of money live lives that barely resemble what I understand as life.

And then I see something like this and realize that there's a whole different side of life that I really don't understand either. I had no idea that those two things were even crimes, let alone that giraffe people apparently exist.

to piggyback off this, i attended a wedding this weekend. some friends of mine came up for it.

originally, it was my friend, his wife and their son that were coming. my friend got called in to work and couldn't make it.

instead it wound up being my friend's wife (known her forever) & son. my friend's sister (love her), her 2 kids, one of their cousins (known her forever) and two of her grandkids (almost 2 and 11 y.o.). these people are family to me.. close as my own blood.. but as happens over time, you don't get to see each other as much as you once did. get togethers only happen ever other year or so now, and 98% of the time it's me & my family visiting them at their place.

this was a casual wedding.. but in Green Bay (way out of his element) and the reception was at a "fancy" joint.

i'm pretty sure the oldest grandson had never seen so many white people in his life. much less congregated together all at once. and i know he'd never seen food like was served at the reception.. because he told me as much. the look on his face most of the day.. the sheer wonderment of it all.. was amazing/hilarious. it made me think to myself "this is how i felt the first time i ate shrooms". everything was so vivid and fascinating.

nothing out of the ordinary about the proceedings for me. some family in attendance, some friends of the bride & groom that i knew. event location that i'm familiar with. in my town so i know the surroundings, etc.

but to that kid.... mind. blown.

to say it was a whole new world, one that he had no idea existed, would probably be accurate. he kept asking me questions about basic things that i take for granted and reacting as though it was the most incredible thing he'd ever heard.

this is going to stick in his memory until the day he dies, no doubt.

Top Golf was a 2.5 hour wait yesterday.  That's just a little absurd.

So instead, I took the older boys bowling and then had lunch at Fuddruckers.  Pretty good little burger there.

My mom cancelled on coming over for father's day dinner (a request she made) because of diahreeah.  WTH?  I have toilets.  God.
How long's the trip, though? Do you have toilets in her car?  Otherwise, General Momlaise could have been forced to deal with an explosive situation on the drive over.

And then YOU'RE dealing with a different sort of situation once she arrives.
