My Grandfather stole my Grandmother from anohter man. She was engaged to be married for crying out loud. But he was in love with her. I don't care to think about it but pretty sure know what he did. Came back from the war and said "hey". Probably.

My parents are freaking out. She doesn't have any ID and I wouldn't put it past her to just say #### it and jump off a cliff.  She's brave. My only hope is that she had found a companion in a stray dog that she loved very much and if he was still with her, don't think she would do so and abandon him.  Of course who the #### knows.

My 20th high school reunion was last night. I did not go. People are posting a bunch of pictures to the FB group that was created. I don't recognize like 95% of the people. A majority because I seriously have no idea who they are, some I assume because I don't know their maiden name, and a whole lot because they're just old and their face registers a big fat zero to me.

Good times.

 
I just saw the "are you successful" thread.  I assume just a bunch of humble-bragging?  I made the mistake of opening the "first-world problems" thread a month or so ago, and that was the extent of it.  I wanted to post my real first-world problem, which was that I stood at the sink in a restaurant bathroom for a few seconds longer than I needed to because I didn't realize neither the water nor the soap were automatic, and then had the same issue with the paper-towel dispenser.  But i didn't want a black dot or white corner or blue star or whatever on that thread.

I thought I was going to get a poop joke on that post.  Thanks for shaking things up into the "snob" realm instead. ;)

I was there again today!  I just won't use their bathroom again...I don't have that kind of extra time.

 
I don't want to enter the church shooting thread, but my mom's family is buried next to another tiny church about ten miles away. Waiting to hear if we know any victims.  :(

I typically post in the weekly "mass shooting" threads, just to find out info. The political forum had worked pretty well to cull out the nonsense and allow these developing stories threads to just be news updates and expressions of grief. But 10 pages in a day tells me that thread devolved into the usual bs and not just info, so I've stayed out.

took about 2 pages.   it quickly got stupid, i stopped checking it for info.

the benefit of this messageboard in breaking news situations is pretty interesting because you have the power of hundreds of people able to conglomerate info fairily quickly.   Unfortunately people from both sides of the spectrum also like to come in and muck it up so that instead of being filled with info, the threads turn into mush.

 
Moving day, except for the furniture that was supposed to be delivered from 2 different stores. Store 1 delayed until next week, except my bedroom furniture which will be another 2-4 weeks after that.  Store 2 was supposed to deliver Saturday, then called and changed it to Sunday.  Never showed and the delivery driver’s cell phone is disconnected.  Fun times.

yeah, for sure. people laugh, but this place actually can be a great place to get news about incidents like this... random stuff gets thrown in, but since the political forum people have been pretty good about waiting a bit to bring the crazy. I guess it didn't happen this time.

also seems like these situations that happen fast and are resolved fast- like the NYC truck and this jack-rod- the developing story develops and ends PDQ, leaving people not as much to talk about other than the crazy or the political/religious. not mutually exclusive.

To be fair, most topics eventually move in another direction anyway.  Makes sense that the discussion shifts to how to "possibly" prevent this or at least what the media is currently talking about.

oh- for sure. just seemed like this one went that direction a little fast is all. so instead of checking that thread for useful info, I checked back after my first "tp :( " post and saw the typical ad nauseum back and forth and haven't looked back, even though I'd like to hear more info about the guy and motive.
