Last night I noticed some water leaking out of my water heater. Not wanting to wake up to a flood, I shut off the power to it at the circuit breaker, shut off the water to it at the valve, and drained it through a hose outside. At 2am the water finally stopped draining out of it and I went to bed. My wife woke me up at 7 to a semi-flooded garage  (which is half finished) anyway. Not entirely sure how that happened. 

Anyway, I got everything dried and now it's shut closed with heaters going hard. I'll be spending Thanksgiving replacing a water heater. Yay, home ownership.

Hey I had a new one installed yesterday. 1,700!  Yay me!

 
We got roped into going to my wife's aunt & uncle's house. Guaranteed the turkey will be bone dry and my wife's insane cousin will be drunk and will grab my butt. My uncle is a racist and refuses to have the NFL on in the house. We're having our "real" Thanksgiving tomorrow at home, just me and Mrs. McG. Definitely looking forward to that. :)

I also encourage you to create new definitions for words and phrases used by the racists and react to their new definitions and not the old ones.

Then refuse to believe Sharia Law means anything else.

Apparently some cheerleaders at a local college kneeled during the anthem and TrumpUncle wrote an angry letter to the school president. They're ungrateful n's who don't even know what they're kneeling for. 

Turkey was good though.

That escalated quickly.  Not even enough time to tell him you took an ancestry.com DNA test and you’re 85% African ancestry with all the hilarity that can ensue. 

 
The DNA thing makes a good long game, too.  Start really getting into “your culture and heritage”... wear a daishiki to all family gatherings.... call everyone “brother.”

 
Oh, I'm 1 for 1 on Roy Moore being a topic of conversation, and my mom was complaining about the preacher at her church because my mom thinks she's a Democrat.  We'll see what tomorrow brings.

 
Left the in laws with only minor discussions of the blacks. Gays and transgenders took a lot more of the blame for everything wrong with the world.

 
I switched to mules.  Still sore from my race this morning, but the booze helps.  Maybe I’ll get drinks before this awful game is over.

 
I don't understand anyone talking politics at family gatherings. People who infect every part of life with politics are the worst.

There were multiple people on both sides of the aisle pimping "guides" on how to advocate certain issues over Thanksgiving dinner. Some politician was even waving around an actual printout of talking points he said people should take with them. Their families may be better off if they die in fiery accidents on the way there.

Thankfully, the vast majority of my family prefers to be normal people and just enjoy spending time together. The only one that I'm sure will remark that she's thankful for President Trump I can let go fairly easily because she's not obnoxious about it and just hasn't been the same since her son died.

The main reasons I didn't go to the doctor today is because I am between jobs and don't have health insurance, just dental and vision through cobra.  I never need to go to the doctor so I didn't feel like $500 a month for health insurance via cobra was worth it.  Also, I have had a concussion before and the doctors couldn't do anything about it.  You just need to rest.  The bigger concern is that in getting this concussion, I may have broken my jaw.  It's so painful, although I am skeptical it's broken because I think it would be worse if it was actually broken, because I can chew a little and it's not black and blue, it's just a little swollen and very painful.  Since I have dental insurance I will see if any are in the office tomorrow and get some x-rays.  I am a mess right now.

Head-but an in-law?

What happened?... I'm also a multiple concussion guy and can empathize. Puking makes me think you shouldn't wait until tomorrow to see a doc... But because of all the concussions I can't remember all the stuff.

I must have been sleepwalking and hit my head on the frame for the bathroom door, which is metal.  I just remember waking up on the bathroom floor, mouth bleeding, jaw and head killing me.

I think the puking is in part because I have spent a couple of hours in the car today, which makes a concussion much worse (speaking out of experience there).  Then at my brother's house, there were about 20 adults and 7 or 9 really hyper kids so it was loud.  I also probably shouldn't have had a couple of beers, but I had to try my brother's home brewed IPA.  It was good.
