GM's Thread About Everything/GM's Thread About Nothing (23 Viewers)

the great thing about dogs is that no matter how many times they eat something that makes them sick.. or unable to #### or eat for a couple days.. they're going right back to the well at the very next opportunity.

the temptation to eat plastic is just too strong. ####### dumb dog needs rehab at this point.

My MIL wanted to get my FIL an Amazon Echo for Christmas.  She has an Amazon account, but not Prime, so she asked me to order it for her.  Then when we visited them after Christmas, they asked me to set it up for them.  She gave me her account info so I could sign in as her on my Alexa app on my phone and set it up.  I got it up and working, and he seems to love it.

Well, we're back home now and I just opened my app to do something with my own echo, and I realized I'm still signed in under her account. In the app, you can see the recent things Alexa heard you ask as well as her responses.  So far there are a lot of "What's the weather outside" and "Play (such and such song)" but there are also a couple of funny/weird questions.  "Alexa, what is the best car?"  "Alexa, who was Wally Cox's boyfriend partner?"

So, should I forget I ever saw anything and never go back in and look, or revisit occasionally and take notes for my Things my Father-in-Law Asks Alexa book?

@DA RAIDERS, thought of you today.  We went snowshoeing at Mt Baker, which you might recognize as the place with the deepest snowpack in the US and which had the single-season largest recorded snowfall in the world (95 feet in 1998-1999).  I know how much you would love it!  The snowshoe route we took in parts skirted a ski area, but the amazing stuff was up in the backcountry where we watched people taking these amazing cliffs down.  I mean, I was standing near cornices thinking how scary they looked and then someone would just launch themselves off it down the mountain.  Looked so exciting yet terrifying.  Pics to come on FB tomorrow-ish.  You gotta come up for this.

:lmao:

I'm generally interested in your book, but I worry what you might discover.  It's like sniffing your wife's underwear. Nothing good will come of it, curious as you may be.

I've had four large helpings of black eyed peas today.  I'm either going to have tremendous luck in 2018 or be on the transplant list for a new colon.

FYI Mr. Peepers was NOT gay

Showed up to a site today to do some sampling for a client today only to be told that I needed a security clearance that nobody had bothered to tell us that we needed. Fun start to the 2018 work year.

things i learned over the holidays:

it don't matter no way if you signed up for da budget plan, da power company is throttling your heat and gas and making you pay whatever they want anyways

Too lazy to change the channel and watching some Ellen's Game of Games on NBC.  Pretty sure they find the dumbest people possible and load them up with blow

You don't want to know. Seriously.

When my FIL passed away I had to pull some banking and other stuff off his computer for my MIL and let's just say I turned a redder shade of pale when I fired up his laptop and browser. USE INCOGNITO MODE, PEOPLE. Please.

Installed a new kitchen faucet today in less than 20 minutes.*

*took 2 hour’s to take the old one out. Screw you, Pfister.**

My FIL has never even typed out his own email message and wouldn't even have a clue what a browser is.

BUT...

There were a couple of times when my kids were little and playing at his house when they'd get a little too close to his bar in the corner of the great room.  He'd freak out a bit when they'd go behind it to get a ball or something that ended up back there, but I never really questioned his reaction, assuming he was afraid they'd break a glass or liquor bottle or mess up some of the memorabilia he had on it and behind it.  One night a few years ago, I looked in the back of it to see what kind of drinks I might suggest mixing up.  Well, I always knew the guy was an old movie buff, but it turns out the hundreds of DVDs he has in the cabinets next to his tv aren't the only movies he has in his collection.

Naturally, I've never said anything about it to anyone (guy code), but admit to kinda hoping one day one of my little nieces pulls one out and asks if they can watch the movie about the pretty cheerleaders.  I can't believe he doesn't hide them better or at least higher up.

I bought a lottery ticket for the first time in my life. Not because I want tremendous wealth or a life of luxury or anything like that. I just really want to go on national TV and say, "I'm giving all this money away. Go to forums.footballguys.com and PM shuke for details."

I had a great time playing boardgames with my friends over the holidays. I really enjoy the Master of Orion game; very well documented, tight gameplay. Simple but enjoyable.

My resolution is to play more board games this year. It chases away depression better than a lot of things for me. *shurg*

I mean could you imagine having a bull on the field and get one of those Spanish commentators "Arreaga passes to Arreaga 2 passes to Barreaga.....BUUUULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!! BULL!!! BULL BULLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!
