I'm that guy in the office today. I got a new salad dressing I wanted to try (Pumpkin Curry) and it is way more pungent than I imagined.

It's delicious though.

Yes, yes.....look at all you healthy eaters today.  Least we still have Damon smuggling in ham sandwiches and Lonestar to counterbalance all the Jenny Craigs in here.

A Wednesday high of 49 is going to feel like being on the surface of the sun.

some bros in Spokane post a Craigslist ad looking for generic fill-in dad to host a Father's Day BBQ.

Their ad reads, "...while most of us know how to operate a grill, none of us are prepared to fill the role of 'BBQ Dad.'"

The party will take place June 17th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

What does a "BBQ Dad" do, exactly?

Duties include:

Grilling hamburgers and hot dogs (whilst drinking beer, of course)

Bringing your own grill (subject to change, but meat will be provided by party planners)

Referring to attendees as Big Guy, Chief, Sport, Champ, etc.

Talk about dad things like lawnmowers, building your own deck, Jimmy Buffet, etc.

The perfect candidate will meet the following qualifications:

A minimum of 18 years experience as a father

A minimum of 10 years grilling experience

An appreciation of cold beer on a hot summer day

*Bonus points if your name is Bill, Randy or Dave.

area dad's deliver.

I guess companies we're waiting until the new year to start their hiring process. After a month of bupkis, I've got two interviews- one through a headhunter, so I know the salary is what I'm hoping for... Also less than 5 minute walk from home. Thopras accepted.

10yo floppinho has been worried about my lack of employment- asking with more frequency and concern when I'm going back to work. That's gotten to me far more than my own worries.

Good luck. 5 minute walk to work sounds amazing.
When I stopped my own work to go back and work for The Man, I would only work in offices that were walking distance. My last place included- except they ended up moving. The difference in quality of life is notable... I hate hate hate commuting. That said, citibikes have allowed me to expand my work zone radius and unless precipitation, keep me out of the subway.

If I catch the traffic light green between my house and my office, it takes me two minutes to drive to work. If the light's red, it takes me three. I can see the cranes in my office's stockyard from my front lawn. I'm in a tiny town, though. But I love not having a commute anymore.

How long a walk? Can't be more than 10-15 minutes... Is that an option?

Yep, and I've done it. But you either have to walk through a field with high grass or along a highway with no shoulder for 1/2 of the distance. I go to work at 4 a.m., so I'd rather warm the car up first and drive most days.

4am?  What do you farm?
Not anymore, but I grew up on one.

Construction now, which isn't much better for sleeping in but I can get in a few hours of work uninterrupted before the clown show arrives.

Plus, it helps with my tendency towards depression to have at least a few hours of daylight when I get home (I usually leave about 2 or 3 p.m. for the day).

My previous viewings of Iron Giant definitely helped with that.
:lmao:   Iron Giant is one of my favorite movies, and I haven't a clue what I just watched.

I liked it, though.
