Bad #### post:

A good friend of mine I may have mentioned here in the past died yesterday. She was 40. She had alcoholic cardiomyopathy from a decade of heavy drinking. She had a heart attack a week and a half ago, and her brain was without oxygen for too long. She's been in a coma/on life support since then, and there was some semblance of hope, but over the last few days her brain damage has increased significantly, and while her body was still alive, she wasn't ever going to be in it any longer.

The family decided to pull the plug yesterday. Some of her friends were there. I went to say goodbye, even though my friend wasn't in there anymore, and I tell you, if I never have to watch a mom embrace her comatose daughter and her how much she loves her before they pull life support measures again, that would be ok. I've never seen eyes with that much pain in them.

My friend has spent a decade suffering. She's lost everything, and now she's lost her life. I'm happy that she's not suffering anymore, and I'm happy that this awful journey is over for a family I care deeply about, but mostly I'm just sad.

Also my mom was in the ER a couple nights ago all night and they're not sure what's wrong with her (and they don't think it's related to her cancer, but who knows) and she's not doing so hot.

My brother in law moved his family across the state six months ago for a job as a cop. Wife quit her job, they sold their house here, bought a new house there, had another kid that's about a month old, bought a fancy new truck, and just got fired. All he's ever wanted to be is a cop. Not really qualified for anything else that pays the bills. Not sure what their future looks like either.

One of my best GB's lost his father in law yesterday morning unexpectedly. His wife is a mess.

Been a rough month for people I'm close to. ####### life, man.
Damn pro, that's a whole lot of bad.

Hang in there. I'm sorry for your loss.

I rarely post in here, mostly just read along and smile, but the last few days are a lot of reading and shaking my head at the crap you folks are experiencing.  So in an effort to hopefully bring a smile to some faces in here, I'll be the guy that admits I had a dream recently about a person from the internet:

I was at some sort of men's event, like a conference or retreat, at this great big lodge in the woods somewhere.  All of my guy friends were there....and so was General Malaise.  We were all hanging out talking and he was acting just like he did in that video where he tried out to be a sports talk host at BWW a few years ago (or whatever that try out was).  Being very cocky and funny.  I was the only one laughing at him.  Then we all decided to go play golf, but I needed to brush my teeth first.  So I went over to the sink and when I opened the toothpaste it just ran and ran out of the tube, and looked like super bright red ice cream syrup or something.  I couldn't get it to stop coming out.  And GM made fun of me because of my dumb toothpaste.

Fin.

I told my wife about it the next morning (she has no idea who GM is, I just told her it was a dude from the FBG message board) and she gave me the blankest look you could give someone.

What in the wide wide world of sports in wrong with me?

TPWs to all the GMTANs that are all too much in need of them.

Since it appears to be bad news week...

Went to a wake for a friend’s mom yesterday after work. My wife’s family is very close with this friend and his family (wife and child) and that’s how I’ve gotten to know him. Through this friendship, we’ve spent countless holidays together and even went on family vacation together a couple of times. However, I never really knew his parents and siblings. I had met his brother once or twice before, but that was it before meeting everyone else last night. While I’m not sure the brother would have even remembered me, he had stepped away from the line when we came through and never got to say hi to him. Just got word this morning that the brother died of a heart attack right after the wake.

While I’m not Tanner old, I do know people my age that are already grandparents. One of my favorite classmates that I’ve known since middle school lost her 2 month old granddaughter yesterday.

Getting out of bed today was a failed endeavor

Freud is famous for his quote about how sometimes an umbrella is just an umbrella... and hey, sometimes toothpaste is just toothpaste oozing between your fingers as it comes out of the tube while you think about gm at a men's event where only you really understand him... but this time I'm close to 100% you had a wet dream about @General Malaise and I'm pretty sure your wife knows it and is like, ok, just keep this #### on the internet and don't tell me about it anymore.

Thoughts and prayers GM.  Lost my dad a couple years ago at 73.  I still have a couple voicemails from him on my phone that I listen to occasionally.  Maybe she could leave you one.  Not a "goodbye" just a "Hey it's mom, hope you and the kids are well" type of thing.  It's not much but it's something.
I've actually saved one from September that she left me when she was doing better but showing signs of weakening.  I didn't know then that she would decline this quickly but I'm glad I saved it and feel better knowing I'm not the only person who would do something like that.

Thanks for all the nice and kind words, everybody.  I find comfort in them.

And K4, I'm glad your friend is on the mend.  That was terrifying to read.  Also, Happy Birthday!

I needed that....

Also, the dog with the jacked teeth made a room full of sad people laugh hysterically yesterday.

:lmao:    Welp, I feel like I accomplished two things here: 1. hopefully made some smile (or at least the folks responding did); and, 2. cemented that I have some issues.

What a rough month.  That's just terrible.  You have my best wishes, as do your friends and family involved.  I wish I had some sage words that could help make things feel a little better, but all I can say is that I wish you the best and we are here for you if you want to talk more.

Best wishes to you all as well.  I can't imagine what it would be like to lose a 2 month old.  That's just not fair.  Too many people here have lost children and/or are close with people who have.

Are all of these tragedies, and problems of late, a symptom of us getting old, or has it just been an incredibly bad month, but for the most part an outlier?

Was crossing the road, was halfway to the middle, when an SUV making a left turn, didn't see me until the last second. His bumper barely touched me.

I lost it. Threw my bottle of Iced Tea at his windshield and screamed "What the f*** is the matter with you?!"

there was a cop right behind him. He got out calmed me down and then talked to the driver. The driver was more shook up then I was. He apologized then we shook hands.

The thing is, I didn't have my life flash before my eyes. Just froze as the car bore down on me, dumbfounded.

Adding my TPW to 'ninja and Epic Problem. :(

Becka did a mile or so walk outside today, even climbing a little hill.  I, on the other hand, didn't get outside but did figure out the correct ratio for combining regular-flavor Bugles and caramel Bugles in one delicious bite.  Take that, Ms. Nearly-Died-a-Few-Days-Ago!

So sorry to hear.

I've been having a lot of friends die lately.  A lot.  I put that off to getting older.  Some of the stuff posted the last few days (including my story) are just a horrible string of bad luck.

Positive vibes to everyone in here needing them.  Throwing mine on the stack of "#### days" apparently....  13 people got sacked at my studio today (only 6 weeks after 5 others had the same happen).  I was not among them, but to say that I was feeling anxious right about now would be an understatement.

I'm sorry to hear that.  I don't remember you mentioning that before.  We aren't that old, though.  I'm in my 40s and IIRC you are a few years younger than me.  We, and our friends, should have at least another 30-40 years left.

  That would have been terrifying considering what you recently went through job-wise.

I haven't mentioned the other deaths because I figure we're getting old, and people die.  Only one of the recent ones was a super-close friend.  I'm older than you, though! :D

I'm sorry to hear about your close friend, but even in your 50s is too young.  I'm glad another close friend (Becka), is getting better at least.

Sometime soon I will go back to posting jokes and funny quips, but lately I can't do it.  I just want this string of bad luck, and maybe a little old age, to getting better.

13 sacks in one day is pretty bad,  I suggest looking at upgrading your offensive line.

There may be a shot video from Vegas at some point. But don't get your hopes up--it might turn into a GM/Netflix situation.

I have a Beerhole (2?) video.  Can repost as needed.  I’m in. Also, Brazilian Steakhouse for lunch was an awesome way to demotivate me for the tasks at hand awaiting me back at work. Off to Vegas in the morning.

Evidently @Bucky86 will be in Vegas starting tomorrow as well.  I told him to PM me if he wants to cornhole.  Maybe we can get buskers on Fremont St. Saturday night to resurrect the #### you Forrest video series.  Intrigued?

I didn't say I worked hard on this.

#### if I know.

She's there for a work thing and then invited her parents to meet us over the weekend. I already warned her that just because SHE invited her parents, it doesn't mean I'm going to be sober.
Perfect.  Use poor memory from consumption an an excuse to wander off for a bit.

Are her parents cool? Really couldn’t imagine having ####ty in-Laws. As a matter of fact. I’m headed out to eat steaks and drink martinis with my FIL in about an hour. Just the two of us. Did he call her to see if we wanted to go? Nope, he called me and added, ‘See if your wife wants to come too’

There's your out right there.  Give her some quality time alone with her parents.

spent 3.5 hours in the dentist's chair today.  neat.

drinking now.  i've discovered i'm very adept at creating a dam with my tongue, to keep the cold delicious beer away from the tooth he worked on.

My last several days were a whirlwind, so I'm not sure where I left this, but I wanted to mention (in the good news category) that Becka has been discharged from the hospital.  She's still on a lot of drugs (antibiotics and steroids mostly, for the lung/pneumonia issues) and is a bit wacky in the head as she is still telling the same stories over and over, but we've no reason she won't eventually make it back to 100%.  Or close enough to that.  Anything above 0% has been a blessing at this point.
Just want to clarify at this point, now that she’s feeling better it’s okay to put your post about kissing and massaging her in a hospital bed in the spank bank, right?
