GM's thread about nothing (32 Viewers)

I am allergic to Christmas trees. Well, not right away but after "a few weeks" when it's done absorbing water and has dried out. Feels like I have strep at the moment but we are leaving in a couple hours for my in laws, so I will survive. Although I'm sure when we get home on Wednesday it will be even worse.

Anyway, Merry Christmas!

I'm also in the championship game of my 24 team dynasty league. I have lost once in the last two years, which is a rather unbelievable and unprecedented run. But my team is ravaged with injuries so I'm nervous. But let me tell you a story about the owner of the team I am playing....His name is John. The first thing you need to know about John is that he is a wonderful guy. He also dated a girl in college that would only do anal because she was terrified of getting pregnant. Also, he is a big red head guy with freckles as red head people tend to get. One night, he decided to get a tattoo. So we all start drinking and head out to the tattoo parlor. John settles on a menacing bulldog for some reason. Problem was he didn't have enough money to get it finished so he just got the outline, at which point it didn't look menacing anymore but rather more like a cartoon bulldog with lots of freckles. To this day he has never gotten in filled in.

I'm playing in the championship against a guy who owns a hedge fund. He's approaching billionaire status. He auto drafted. He hasn't changed his lineup after setting it week 1. I have a feeling I'm still going to lose. All the thought and strategy doesnt mean #### apparently. I guess it really is luck. He has Big Ben. Ksmith gerhart. Calvin Marshall ssmith harvin. Jimmy. Seabass. 49ers. I'm already down 30-23. He probably doesn't even know he's playing still, not to mention $700 is what he wipes his ### with.

Ah...vacation. So when traveling to a foreign country it probably doesn't make much sense to put the Canon in the suitcase. O/U on if it is still there when I get to Panama City, Panama?
Ugh, good luck. It will probably be fine if you're on a reputable airline, but I can't imagine putting a camera in a checked bag. Then again, I can't imagine willingly checking a bag either.Where are you staying in Panama City--Casca Viejo or the newer part of the city (which oddly looks very much like Dubai)? I love Panama City and have recommendations for some great restaurants if you need them. Have a great trip!!
We are staying at the Trump Ocean Club. I like the city. We'll be back here next weekend for two nights. Going to visit the old city then.

Hint: you're supposed to keep watering it.
I have kept watering it. It isn't absorbing any more. The water level in the tree stand has not changed in two weeks. I even reached in with a little pocket hand saw thing to give it some new slits in the bark for absorption and it won't take. The tree has cried uncle. My annual tradition is to store in on the side of the house and then put it in the back of my brother in laws truck sometime during the summer when he is over drinking beer and doesn't notice I've gone outside.

In the old town, highly recommend Ego y Narciso, which we ate at twice it was so good. My only caveat is that the first time we ate there, I got an octopus dish that was so tasty I ate about two kilos of octopi and haven't been able to eat octopus since then. So be careful not to overoctopus yourself. Also in old town, Ciao Pescao has the best ceviche I've ever had, and Divino Enoteca is a really great wine bar.

The best meal I had there was at El Trapiche. Hole in the wall type place with mostly locals, in the main part of the city. Do not miss this.

Of all the weird stuff I've seen in Morocco this is the weirdest.
:lmao: that's greatHow were the markets? In my head they hold some of the most unimaginably putrid smells on the face of the earth. The mix of a million sweaty people with spices and meat and animals, etc.

The only bad smell I've noticed is diesel from all the vehicles. That gives me a headache. The markets are great and wonderful and very exciting; only smells are good smells of various fruits, spices, etc. We're here in winter so high 70s-ish during the day, so no sweaty people, though I don't sense that would be an issue anyway.

At the inlays and both the bentley boys are napping. Wanted to wish everyone a Merry Xmas and thank them for their contribution to my amusement this year just in case I don't have another moment of peace and quiet between now and then.

Took the kids to Bass Pro Shop to see Santa today. We usually do this on a weeknight but didn't get a chance this year. What a ####ing nuthouse.

Is there any worse smell than the mixture of cigarette smoke and farts that is common in large groups of hillbillies?
WTF. A mall down?
BPS has a nice setup with activities for the kids, and the photo is free.
Added to my notebook.

About to win TOCOL. I won the first one in 2002-2003, the inaugural season. Long time to stay with it. Great league. All IDP, my first exposure to it. Commish? Bronco Billy, aka The Donkey. :lmao:

The great Ditkaless Wonder plays in this league. He'd be a great addition here. Beer30 and Beakerpunk alums who no longer play. Great league. Honored to win.

JTC and I will win Uber foots. :bowtie: Was a LOT closer than I thought I'd be. Damn, ChemX made a run.

Congrats to Tat for winning HFFL. Beat Cos in the finals. Great league. Red, Gambino, JTC, Jeep....Well done, Tat.

Feel terrible about the Ryan Freel news. When he was first starting out with the Reds I would sometimes see his father in the local BW3. Seemed like a really nice guy and a couple of the bartenders confirmed this.
That sucks. In all seriousness, I hope Farney didn't tell him to do it.
Just read the story about it. :(Loved that guy. Pretty sure Scupper was a big fan....white guy who could flat fly. Was on our Uber bases team. RIP

I'm about to win my first dynasty league championship, that fake yahoo trophy will finally be mine after 8 seasons. :banned:

I'm going to win one of my four leagues, in line with my lifetime batting average. :football:
