In a real melancholy mood right now

Went to a gallery opening tonight for one of my good friend's fiancee's sister's photography

It would have been her 25th birthday today

On Halloween night she died in her sleep, apparently from some interactions of ritalin, xanax and alcohol

she was a really talented photographer

Listening to The National and toasting her memory with some Glenlivet

I will drink a screwdriver and watch Eastbound & Down in her honor, GB.

I fixed my toilet today without having to call a plumber. The testosterone high from that move still hasn't worn off. May take my wife by force when I go to bed tonight.

I've done this exact thing. It's awesome. Make sure to remind her about how you fixed something.

:goodposting: Sorry to hear that, man. I'll open up this Macallan and have a drink in her honor.

Thanks for the sentiments guys

Just such a waste of young life and talent

She was just really starting to develop a more

mature eye behind the lens, transcending the pure vitality and excitement of much of her early work

Tonight was a great celebration of her life though

The board software stores stuff in a database. It might store something in a comma separated format, like

Bryant, Joe, Joe Bryant, 2, 4/1/2003, ...etc.

That works great in most cases. The board software just chops that up into last name, first name, display name, member number, start date, and so on. But if you wanted to say that he works at sportsguys.com, LLC, then you'd have a problem, because the software might not understand that the comma was part of the value, and not a way of distinguishing one field, sportsguys.com, from another, LLC. So it stores it in quotes as "sportsguys.com, llc". It doesn't matter if there's one comma or a hundred, anything between the quotes is one value.

But what if you want to put quotes in a value? Like woz's thread, where he wanted to say something gave him that "jumpy" feeling? If the thread title were "Something gave me that "jumpy" feeling", then the board software would interpret it as two different things - "Something gave me that" and "feeling" - with the word jumpy in between for no apparent reason. To fix this, the software designers put a symbol - something like &quote or maybe &quotation - to replace the actual " mark. Problem solved - we just store

"someone gave me that &quote jumpy &quote feeling"

But there's a little glitch - the maximum text length for the field is 30 characters. So even though woz diligently fixed his thread title to be 30 characters, that was with one character quotation marks, not the six character string &quote. So when they stored it in the database, they get an error - and it only stores the first 30 characters. So instead of "someone gave me that &quote jumpy &quote feeling", you only get "someone gave me that &quote jumpy &quo". The first &quote is read correctly later by the software as a quotation mark. But the second one got cut off, and the board software didn't know that &quo was cut off, so the board took all this into consideration, plus the fact that woz is kind of a dink, and that his thread was going to get mocked no matter what it did, and determined that the best answer was to make up a new term for our entertainment.
LMAO

Krista, looking good in the football pool.Freaking autopick.
;) :lmao:I think my two best weeks have been 2 of the 3-4 weeks I forgot to make picks. :bag: Sadly I'm set on "random" rather than "favorites" or anything sensible.I get some :lmao: , yes? :lmao:

If you were down 4.8 points, had Vick left, and your opponent had DuhSean Jackson and Matt Bryant left, how would you like your chances? % chance of victory would be nice as well.PPR, 10 rush/rec = 1, 20 pass = 1, all TD's are 6, return TD's are 6.
:lmao:
Yep, won by 14.05. It was a grind the whole way until Vick ran in the TD in Q4. Caught some luck with Bryant only getting 2 points, and DeSean Jackson only catching 2 of 12 targets tonight. ;)

Frosty, I'm watching your chick in Zombieland right now. Looking hot. I can't bring myself to purchase "Easy A" though.

$183 headed your way. :thumbup:I forgot I needed Philly for another pool I'm in. Man that game cost me money and potentially a lot of money. :wall:

So as I went to sleep last night and that old surfer movie was on (1987). North Shore? Anyway, I decided I had to watch that as I fell asleep and then had to hit info to see what the girl's name was.

Nia Peeples

I don't know how close she is to pushing 50 there, but she was born in 1961 and will be 50 soon. Still hot.

Man Day starts in two hour and I feel like I'm going to puke. Should be interesting. I'll check back in if anything universally funny happens. I hope it isn't to me though. Ah, who am I kidding.

I cracked the corner off my front tooth and now look like Lloyd Christmas. :goodposting: Merry Christmas! The dentists office doesn't open til Monday.
About 20 times since reading this post, I've thought, "our pets heads are falling off" and most of those times, it hasn't even made sense.Sorry for your loss. What were you doing?
A dentist in the next town got me in today just to rebond the tooth...temp fix. I was biting the plastic tag off a Barbie doll. If I was American, I'd sue Barbie!$125 for 10 minutes to bond it. No needles, no parts, I came with the broken piece. LICENSE TO PRINT MONEY!!I'm encouraging my son to be a dentist.

Netflix down? Some dialog is a little clunky in Easy A, but it's a sharp movie overall. RIYL "Mean Girls".
I don't know what RIYL stands for, but I would definitely compare it with Mean Girls. Couple of chick flicks that are well written enough that they're actually very good movies.

Going to introduce the GF to my parents in about an hour. This is the first girl I've had meet my parents in over a decade. Should be interesting.
:blackdot:
Actually, it went great. My parents love her, and she likes my parents. So now I'm sure she's going to want me to meet her parents. Hopefully this will go better than the last couple of times a girl introduced me to her folks. The last time a girl introduced me to her dad, who was a huge Beatles fanatic, she told him in the first 10 seconds that I hated the Beatles. The time before that, the girl's dad threatened to "cut my hands off" over the phone before I even had a chance to meet him and his wife IRL.

Just read this on a woot comment.

"I would expect a functional unit that may actually be worth sub-$400 for 40" but I wouldn't expect bleeding edge technology."

I should of picked Vick up off waivers.
Good one.Can someone explain this jumpy and quo thing to me?
Apparently if you have a long thread title with quotation marks it adds &quo to the endWoz started a thread about a chick that gave him a "jumpy feeling" or some crap. The tread title ended with "jumpy&quo. Everyone laughed like a *******
This is a very underderated term and I try to use it whenever possible. I also still love the flick Outside Providence. :drugs delaney:

Does anyone know if this Friday is considered a bank holiday? I'm trying to determine whether I need to run payroll today or if I can wait until tomorrow.
