GM's thread about nothing (41 Viewers)

I picked up Sunday nights bartending at my buddy's joint. Very slow this time of year, but I make a little extra cash and have a few beers...a very worthwhile endeavor IMO. I wasn't expecting much in the way of adventure, but you guys aren't going to believe the complete and total nutcase I hooked up with last night.

As soon as #### slows down here at the office, I will elaborate.

MIL and one of her good friends were over today. We had dinner, and I was cleaning up dishes and walked back into the dining room, to hear my MIL say, in regards to a shampoo that she'd used, that it "made her t*** tingle" upon contact.

I literally turned on heel and walked right out. :X :X :X
You MIL brings her friends to your house? WTF?
1) She's one of her friends from the 70's, but a family friend of ours. We would stay at her place in NYC pretty frequently when we lived back east. She's fairly eccentric, but a nice person.2) To clarify, t### rhymes with "thought", not "bits."
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRGGGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

I think my question still stands though - she's using shampoo there?
From what I could glean from the context of the conversation, she was washing her hair and some shampoo just happened to make its way southward. The same friend of the MIL spent the night at our place last night. This morning she looks at our cat and says:"Have you ever noticed that your cat has three #######s? HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!" :censored:

Raging alcoholic indeed. Just because I drank from 10 AM to 11 PM on Friday and from 10 AM to 9 PM yesterday does not mean that I'm a drunk. Frankly I'm offended by these insinuations and if I wasn't going out drinking and watching chuckwagon races tonight, then I'd find time to lambaste the lot of you.

Instead, you'll have to wait for pictures of the early 30s MILF and other wimmens that got their Stampede whore on... likely until tomorrow morning, unless I'm too hung over.

Thought and swat don't really rhyme exactly. I had trouble cracking the code.
Yes, they do.
This is like when Smoo insisted that Dawn and Don were homophones.
They are, unless you live on lawn guylend.
Hmm, the thread appears to have been purged, but I think there was a poll and the majority agreed that Don and Dawn were not pronounced the same. To me, thought and swat aren't even close.

:goodposting: They don't rhyme. Thought rhymes with ought, fought, taut... "swat" isn't listed in the rhyming dictionary.

Thought has an "aw" sound. It rhymes with words like "taut" or "caught."Swat has an "ah" sound. It rhymes with words like "pot" or "hot."
aw and ah sound the same to me. Hot rhymes with taut and caught.
There's a biiiig difference between the gf moaning "AAAAHHHHH" and her groaning "AAAAAWWWW..."

Sure, but if you use fatguy's criteria above, pot would rhyme with cat.

This is how I imagine Dr. Seuss and Eminem would interact on a message board.

Hop on pop? ##### climb on top

And let me teach you something only Alias coulda taught

To that boyfriend you thought

Was clean, but found out he's not

And now you gotta get a shot

For the VD that you caught.

Oh the places you'll go, #####.

No. There are more than two vowel sounds.
I'm going to need a phone call to clarify. I'll call you if you PM me your number.
I'll PM you my number if you want, but it seems more helpful to just post pronunciation links so everyone can listen. These are links to downloads of wav files pronouncing the two words.Cot

caught

I get where fatguy is coming from, but in my opinion in everday conversational speech, the rate of speech speeds up where the two are indishtingushable.

Yeah, I'm going to have to agree. I'm having a hard time finding examples to back of my claim. All of them have subtle differences.
