GM's thread about nothing (33 Viewers)

1 bag carol shelby mix2. Brown with Carrol Shelby Mix (not the masa part yet)
The race car driver? When did he start making 'mix'?
20 years or so? At least. Oh, stay away from the faux Carrol Shelby Chili mixes (aka "Kit Mixes"). They look great but it's really just a Mustang engine in a fake fiberglass body.
I'll be damned. I used to tutor his grandson and actually took care of him for a weekend while I was in college. Parents rewarded me with an autograph picture from Carol Shelby made out to me. I should dig that up.
Carroll Shelby turns 89 today.
Sadly, I think the picture of Shelby saying "Best wishes, Forrest" is lost somewhere in my ex-wife's garage. :kicksrock:

Watching Moneyball right now. I don't care about the criticisms this movie is scratching my nerdy baseball fan itch right where it itches. Or something.
Saturday night is my first night alone without wife or kids or plans in months...I'm serioulsy thinking about finding this in a theater and going alone. The thought actually excites me to no end.
It would be in the $1 theater by now, no?
That was my hope. Portland has a string of theaters run by McMennamin's Brew Pubs. It's the only way to go, IMO. $3 for all movies and you can get a 22 oz Hammerhead IPA (Top 5 all time for me) in a bottle for like $5 or so. Balcony seating with ample room to spread out. Pizza, burgers, etc...they even have a full bar for cocktail drinkers.Sadly, Moneyball will not be playing there Saturday night. Tomorrow is the last night I see it listed. :kicksrock:

Bump
After getting a mean, snarky twit on Sunday, I'm done with this thing. My login info is for sale to the first bidder.

Is this weird or what?

Showing a short video on The Alamo today. There's some historian on there who is a Jim Bowie expert (and apparently an expert on the knife).

Here's the guy.

Here's Jim Bowie

What a weirdo.
I would get hammered with that guy.
Why don't we take the easy route and you give us a list of people you WOULDN'T get hammered with.
Uh, Woz.I'm sure there are others.

You tell 'em Bowie was a slave trader?I agree that it's a little strange, but I learned quickly as a history major that MANY historians preocuupied with a subject tend to start resembling their object of fascination. You ever meet any Civil War buffs? They make Dungeons & Dragon players look like the Duke Lacross Team.

I pointed it out when the guy came up in the video and told them "Next week I'm going to start trying to look like Nixon".

Positive. I was an early exit out of the Nye's ditch.

What was the mean snarky tweet?
It was me and I was a jerk about not tweeting breasts.GM, wait!
Indeed. My biggest issue is toggling back and forth between GMTAN login and my own. 100% of my tweets will come from my smart phone and I'm probably not going to take the time to see if I'm logged in as GMTAN or SR. So if I mistakenly retweet something under GMTAN that doesn't have pictures of empty beer bottles, toilets or barely legal boobs, I get crapped on by Captain Snark here and I'm far too sensitive for that.

Went to Wolfley's for dinner last night. My girlfriend spotted two seats on the far corner of the bar and headed towards them. The guy next to one of the seats seemed to be trying to secure that stool but she just sat down and said, "Hi there!" It took me a second to realize it was Mark Grace. He was eating a pretty rare patty melt and pounding Blue Moons or some Hefe or something. He had fruit in it. He was cool, though. He and his friend (who looked familiar, too but I couldn't place him) eventually moved to the other side of the bar because they were expecting a friend and we took his seat.
C'mon, you don't do that to Mark Grace.
He should have hit for more power.

Can't you just tweet as yourself to GMTAN?Edit: I suppose whoever is manning the GMTAN ID would need to retweet to the rest of us.

Considering firing up a marriage thread as I may be proposing in a few months. Good or bad idea?
Instead of vows, you should read the Emancipation Proclamation at your wedding. In Laws would love that.
I wonder if she's registered with Skoal or Kodiak?
I've only ever dated one racist. Just one.
You can never go back.

Can someone give me a clifton's notes of this whole texting rigamarole?
Sorry to hear about your troubles being a Steeler fan.At any rate, many of the people in this thread have exchanged numbers although there is not a master list. Some people like to text pictures of what they're drinking, the line at Taco Bell, or their 22 year old mistress' boobs. Some like to organize "team shots" at a specific time. Some like to just say what's on their mind. Our resident alcoholic man-whore Gadzooks has well over 10 numbers yet his phone won't allow him to text more than 10 people at a time. Thus the private @GMTANFBG twitter feed was born for important updates. WALA
WTF are 'protected tweets'. <_<
We have a twitter feed now? Should I sign up? Also, does this qualify us for a world record? Somebody contact these guys.

I'm on my phone and it doesn't show links. I couldn't see the quote and I just scrolled over "this" to see what kind of (presumably) midget porn had you excited to no end.

Close. Brad Pitt.

Question for the rest of the drunk in the GMTAN. Do you guys ever get blood work done? Is it just something us old guys do or because my doctor freaked out over past results?

I was curious because just I got mine back and now all of the historical results are online. My cholesterol is a little high but my liver is in the normal range although it is on the high side. The standard (ALT) range is 9-60. So I was curious as to what my past results were and a couple stuck out at me.

10/08~246

10/09~183

No wonder my doctor freaked out. The lesson is take a 4-5 days off from the booze before having blood drawn.

Nobody would blame you for drinking heavily during a Rams game.
