I read it that way, anywayYou're supposed to start it off like "I'm a sophomore at a small, Southern college. I never thought anything like this would ever happ..."I a sophomore in college looking to save a dollar; he a bearded, unkempt and jobless religious professor similarly looking to save a dollar. Two Millsapians, headed down a bumpy path towards fiscal responsibility.Let's investigate this weirdness a bit more.I shared a room in Memphis with my Religion professor for a wedding. I got him baked and we went to Graceland. Cool dude. The school didn't offer him tenure and it pissed me off so badly. I think he's at Wabash college now. Cool cool cool cool guy.
What?Yeah, sorry, I could have been more clear. This freeroll game in which my husband and I participate each Monday night has a very large deaf attendance. It's really pretty cool and I've actually picked up some sign language along the way. About 50% of the players at the 6:00 seating are deaf. The 9:00 game, which actually counts for something, has a lot more players and so the deaf contingent is only about 25% of total players.'Tiger Fan said:what?I forgot to mention that 50% of the people in the 6:00 game and about 25% of the 9:00 game are deaf. I know this going in, but never seem to remember it. As a result, I try to break the ice at the tables with my many witticisms, and when I am met with silence, I always think, "Oooh, I'm at the serious player table".![]()
My point was just that, having only been to this poker night for three weeks, I keep forgetting about the deaf contingent. So when I get to the table, I make polite conversation and/or jokes. Then, when met with a stony silence, I immediately think that I'm at the Serious BusinessTM table.
Anyway, I didn't do much better with that explanation, but hope you're having a Happy Birthday!
Last time I was in Amsterdam for work I was tooling around the red light district and I walked into this bar and the first song I heard was "Roxanne". I walked right out.In honor of Tigerfan, I say we draft something. Cities? States? Rockbands? Condoms? 1.01 Amsterdam.
But where will that leave the hot twentysomething bar friends? Think of them. :(Weird couple of days.Falling for married subordinate proved to be a very bad and painful idea (shocking). Nobody got fired, but I now officially hate coming to work.My seven-year old daughter asked to move to southern california for a year to see if she is happier there, which is closer to our families. She feels isolated and lonely here since we don't have any family here, and a couple of her close friends have recently moved away. My ex-wife found out the school she's working at is closing after this year, so she has very little keeping her here except my custody order. Now I don't want to work in this office any more, but I may be able to transfer back to San Diego and keep my job. It looks like I may be going home.

Sorry for your friend and his team leader. Any updates on how they're doing?'GroveDiesel said:So not to bring down the thread below it's already horrifically pathetic and sad levels, but I just found out that my buddy and his team leader were both ambushed and wounded in Afghanistan today. His team leader got the worst of it and will be flown to Germany when he hopefully stabilizes enough. My buddy managed to come out of it with Forrest Gump, so thankfully he should be ok. His family is a pretty good mess right now though. I'm really hoping that his team leader pulls through everything and ends up recovering, because I have about a million jokes in my head already concerning getting shot in the ###.

They're probably trying to cheat you. I played in this team poker tournament a couple years ago with some friends, and there was a team of deaf guys that was killing it. That was until one of our guys (who happened to have deaf parents) ended up at their table and noticed that they were passing signs. He let them know that he was onto it and their performance dropped sharply thereafter.Yeah, sorry, I could have been more clear. Thanks. If this happens it isn't exactly bad, just a lot of change all at once.San Diego was always home, so going back isn't really a problem, and my ex would move about 45 minutes away so my visitation schedule with my daughter wouldn't change. It may fall through, but I think it's better than 50/50. Also lets me make a clean break from my paralegal, which will be good for both of us. Sucks, because I'm crazy about her but the timing is all bad.Ugh... yeah, they're pretty much the only thing I like about living here at this point. From what I remember, San Diego has hot twentysomethings, too. "The Great Gatsby"Mr. YSR's birthday is on Monday and my mom just called, asking what to get him. He and I aren't big gift givers, so I told her "nothing", but apparently that won't stand. So she asked if there was a book he might like to read.
His interests: poker, movies, Special Forces (loves a good Netflix documentary on these groups), conspiracy theories (to a degree, he's not off the reservation or anything), home improvement/renovation and/or construction, investing (commodities, mostly), and MMA. He does not read novels.
Any of you guys have a book in one of these realms that I should look into?
