Holy **** you guys have obsessive controlling wives. Mine's just neurotic and always thinks she left the stove on when we leave the house. Frankly, I don't know what's better: micromanaged meals or turning around a mile out to check the ###### stove.
What's the problem with micromanaged meals? There's always something good to eat and I never have to cook it. Really not sure why you think this is a bad thing, especially when it involves reading massive amounts of books.
To me it would feel like I'm at some crappy cafeteria no matter how good the food is. I'd end up getting sick of it, guaranteed.I'm also a guy that does a lot of grilling, which means I stop at the butcher on the way home quite a bit and just pick something up. Fresh meat! In general we have a number of choices on hand and based on time/desire/etc we come to a decision on food.
Don't ruin my illusions. In my world, you win fresh meat multiple times a week at local meat raffles as your winning $599 pull tabs

The software company I was really interested in turned me down. Apparently my salary demands ($90k annual, no benefits) was too much to even start a discussion. They do want me to put together some ideas on helping with their marketing and lead gen, which I might do. But overall im kind of bummed. My wife was supportive saying "it isn't meant to be. Don't worry, I've built up a resistance to your professional instability over the last decade. It will work out" although I imagine part of her is scared to death inside. To top it off I'm still sick so I can't even get drunk tonight.
Sorry dude. Let's grab a beer Thursday.
What is your itinerary?I'd like to work out after work, just depends on how late I am. Just want to grab dinner/beers somewhere where the games are on.

K4. I hope that there's so calm after the initial storm

I truly believe you're making the right decision for you and your sanity, no matter the consequences.

I'm envious and jealous and proud of your decision and can't wait for you to post more from Nicaragua

I'm sure today was tough, but hope it gets better from here

We're only meal planning a week at a time right now but looking to stretch it to two. The best part is that we don't buy a bunch of #### at the grocery store that ends up going to waste because she only picks up exactly what we need. Also saves the "What do you want to eat tonight?" pointless discussion that we used to have every day. She also makes enough to freeze so that I bring my lunch to work most every day. Big fan.

Hoping that the Supreme Courth declares that my marriage in Massachusetts is valid in Texas. Prepared for the worst, hoping for the best. Those of you who are riends with me on FB can clearly see how much my wife and I love each other. It is ridiculous.

P.S. GM, Rose Hip gold was amazing!!!

Maybe you should re-consider who you support politically. None of this would even be on the table with your party.

I still don't get this. I'm trying to see the view from the other side of the aisle here. I don't know. Perhaps most of you work regular 9 to 5 jobs, so you don't get home until dinnertime so without planning it'd be a mad last minute scramble to make something? And most have larger families than me, so you're dealing with more chaos? I don't know. My wife and I are both home by 3:30, 4:30 when she stops at the gym after work. We lounge about for a couple hours, then decide what to eat. As for waste - is it that big of a deal? We buy groceries every couple weeks with meals in mind, then decide what to throw together that day. What isn't used (WASTE!#@#) my wife usually digs out one bored Saturday and makes some creative concoction that may or may not taste good, but she has loads of fun putting together. I dunno You people are nazis, man.

That is the problem with today's politics, you have to be one side or the other.

doing my red sox squares pool thing again this year.

it usually fills up pretty quickly and i give returners (GM, Thorn, Zooks, Tre, TF and a bunch of folks from back home) first dibs on squares (max of 2/person), but if anyone is interested, let me know.

details are here
If you still have squares available after the returners I'm down for two.
See if Guster can give you my old spot as a returner.
Done... Uni, you're in for 2

Would be better if it paid zero for a win and double for a loss.

Been dead for 50 years man. Get off his back.

Woke up sicker today than the last 6 days. Finally going to the doctor today. So I guess I have a bronchitis-pneumonia-plague variant.

The professor in the cube/desk across from me is petite and athletic and asian and stylish and has a tattoo sleeve that you can see when she wears semi-transparent shirts over a tank. I can't see her from my desk (thank goodness), but I can hear her precise & wet enunciation whenever she speaks and it's driving me NUTS. Also she makes sure to look in at me whenever she passes by.

I'm not in the Danger Zone here, but I'm :scared:

A little bit of Pavlov, a larger bit of Nabokov.

It sounds like you do know. Most working professionals don't get home at 3:30.

Yeah, sorry sack but this one is an easy explanation. Any combo of kids, kids' activities after school, one or both parents working an 8-5:30 job and you get chaos M-F and usually on weekends as well.I don't think I have "lounged around for a couple of hours" during the week (before say 9pm i guess) in like 10 years. Except for when I got a vasectomy of course. No funeral.

ETA: And your way frankly sounds awesome..its just not the norm for the majority.

I thought the Supreme Court vote thing was strictly related to California?

I get it guys. The "I don't knows" where rhetorical. <_<

Yea, our way is awesome, but it's just one of the tradeoffs of having limited disposable income. We leave for work at 7am (me only 3 days a week). I'm home to meet my son off the bus at 2:30pm - no babysitter or daycare costs - and we're all together by 4:30pm, sometimes earlier. It's nice and very good for the Flaming Bird, but the lack of dough is the suck.

Yea, but they're determining whether the Cali law is constitutional. If it isn't, that means all similar laws are axed nation-wide. If it is then all similar laws nationwide get a bump of affirmation.
