GM's thread about nothing (35 Viewers)

Hoping that the Supreme Courth declares that my marriage in Massachusetts is valid in Texas. Prepared for the worst, hoping for the best. Those of you who are riends with me on FB can clearly see how much my wife and I love each other. It is ridiculous.P.S. GM, Rose Hip gold was amazing!!!
I thought the Supreme Court vote thing was strictly related to California?
Yea, but they're determining whether the Cali law is constitutional. If it isn't, that means all similar laws are axed nation-wide. If it is then all similar laws nationwide get a bump of affirmation.
Gotcha...thxETA: GLLLLLL Mac!

Oh, good! I thought you might like that one. PS, those cards are pretty sweet. Not sure if you flipped through them, but a local artist creates them and sells them limited edition style. PSS, I liked yours and everybody's pro Gay Marriage posts on Facebook. Let's do this.

doing my red sox squares pool thing again this year.

it usually fills up pretty quickly and i give returners (GM, Thorn, Zooks, Tre, TF and a bunch of folks from back home) first dibs on squares (max of 2/person), but if anyone is interested, let me know.

details are here
If you still have squares available after the returners I'm down for two.
See if Guster can give you my old spot as a returner.
Done... Uni, you're in for 2
 I'll buy GM a beer with the boatloads these squares will pay out.

Holy **** you guys have obsessive controlling wives. Mine's just neurotic and always thinks she left the stove on when we leave the house.

Frankly, I don't know what's better: micromanaged meals or turning around a mile out to check the ###### stove.
What's the problem with micromanaged meals? There's always something good to eat and I never have to cook it. Really not sure why you think this is a bad thing, especially when it involves reading massive amounts of books.
We're only meal planning a week at a time right now but looking to stretch it to two. The best part is that we don't buy a bunch of #### at the grocery store that ends up going to waste because she only picks up exactly what we need. Also saves the "What do you want to eat tonight?" pointless discussion that we used to have every day. She also makes enough to freeze so that I bring my lunch to work most every day. Big fan.
I still don't get this. I'm trying to see the view from the other side of the aisle here. I don't know. Perhaps most of you work regular 9 to 5 jobs, so you don't get home until dinnertime so without planning it'd be a mad last minute scramble to make something? And most have larger families than me, so you're dealing with more chaos? I don't know. My wife and I are both home by 3:30, 4:30 when she stops at the gym after work. We lounge about for a couple hours, then decide what to eat. As for waste - is it that big of a deal? We buy groceries every couple weeks with meals in mind, then decide what to throw together that day. What isn't used (WASTE!#@#) my wife usually digs out one bored Saturday and makes some creative concoction that may or may not taste good, but she has loads of fun putting together. I dunno You people are nazis, man.
Wow.

That thing was mean as a snake. Hated her. I don't remember the fireplace incident, but I do remember that ##### trying to bite me.
Must have been a Shetland. I had one of those and his purpose in life was to maim and injure me. Most relentlessly mean creature I ever encountered.
One of my VERY favorite animals to every play with in life - and it's really not close - is a goat. Those things are like puppies with a higher IQ. We had some friends that lived out in North Texas and we used to go out there for holidays. I would spend hours playing with that f'n goat. When I grow up and buy my own Albert Oaks, I'm buying a few goats. The ones I don't like, I'll eat. Because I love eating goat as much as I love playing with goat.

I'll Kripple better when I've recovered from the last couple of days, but:

1. Good luck, gay/lesbian people.

2. I don't see how you can plan meals in advance. What if you're not in the mood for whatever is that night's designated item? I just go by mood for all my meals.

3. My announced departure at work yesterday led to one of my team members becoming so upset she vomited, two people quitting on the spot, and a third that is on the verge of it. From 9-7 yesterday I had nothing but a constant stream of people coming into my office very upset, with not a single moment where there wasn't someone here and one or more other people waiting their turns. Truly an awful day from which I haven't yet recovered. It was all I could do to drag my sorry ### here today for more of it. Yay.

Why are these people so unstable? I've only heard of small children getting so upset they vomit. That whole scene sounds like a skit of some sort. All the more reason to leave imo. You're not responsible for their happiness (or sanity).

:goodposting: Some of my closest friends are people I have worked with in the past. At no point if they left or I left was it anywhere near this type of situation. Just sounds bizzare all around.Really hope everything works out for you. You have great times ahead of you. I hope this doesn't steer you away from it.

I made a co-worker vomit once. My rare-steak-and-draft-beer farts are pretty incredible.

I turned in my resignation letter this morning. No one gave a crap. <_<I'll be around for another 2.5 weeks, maybe my colleagues will get sad as my last day approaches.

Meal planning is the last nugget of personal information I ever share with you clowns. I'm done here. May you all commence vomiting and have a gas at whatever you do.

Well, if you work closely with women, and if they love working with you and respect you, it happens. The day I was laid off from a five-year job, they let me say bye to everyone (everyone else who was laid off was escorted immediately out). I think it was because I walked into the room and immediately said, "Look, I know I'm being laid off. I know this isn't a personal decision but an economic one. With that said, I'd love to freelance for you all if the opportunity to do so comes up." Anyway, the office was mostly women. I went around to everyone, let them know I was laid off, but to please stay in touch. A majority started crying when I told them. :shrug:K4, I know it sucks but the reaction shows how much love and respect your co-workers have for you.

FTR I'm fine with it. Having a "category" for dinner may make you try some new things in that category that you've not tried before.

Just found out I'm jumping on a plane for LA tonight, staying through the weekend and most of next week.

Will suck not seeing my kids on Easter, but doing the "good solider" thing and hopefully get some brownie points in the process. Also Sunday at the beach might be fun.

How do you guys feel about macarons?

People (wimmin in particular) seem to go crazy about these things. I think they're overrated. Give me a good cinnamon bun over a dry macaron any day.

Stay strong my meal planning brother. We have something we've never had before every Sunday. We just plan ahead for what its going to be.

I don't understand. Was the departure not framed in a way where people were told "krista has been amazing as you all know. She has given every bit of herself to this practice/company for year and has finally decided to take some much deserved time off. We are excited for her an wish her well!" Did they all know somehow that you were miserable already?
