Did not know that. Thanks for the insight. Keep it going for 2 more hours!BobbyLayne said:Texas is every other year, so I wouldn't be too sure about that. Won't be in session again until 2015.Trey said:It (unfortunately) will be passed eventually anyway but props to her for bringing attention to this disgrace of a bill.
That's great insight if you ignore the fact that the Legislature is now in Special Session, which Governor Perry can call for 30 days at any point in time on any issue that he sees as an "emergency." Abortion legislation was declared an emergency for this Special Session. Theoretically, even if she made it to midnight, he could just call them back into Special Session for another 30 days starting later this week.Did not know that. Thanks for the insight. No. It sucks. It's disingenuous and none of then are trying to do anything for the people. They are trying to win and collect favors along the way to winning. It's awful.Serious question - I've never worked in politics, but this seems like everything that would be AWESOME about working in politics. Didn't you LOVE stuff like this? Isn't this fun? This is pretty good stuff, but seeing these personalities again bring back some bad memories. It also reminds me of the hours and hours and hours we used to sit around waiting for something to happen.Edit - And what Abe said about grandstanding to the base and the fact that these guys are all serving their own political interest and not that of the state.Serious question - I've never worked in politics, but this seems like everything that would be AWESOME about working in politics. Didn't you LOVE stuff like this? Isn't this fun? No?Me too. 90 minutes to goCan I appeal your decision to not hear an appeal on the earlier appeal that was appealled?
I dunno... youtube viewership has been steadily increasing.slow death of cable access tv here.
This is the guy that made his name as Michael Irvin's drug/sexual assault lawyer. Can I appeal your decision to not hear an appeal on the earlier appeal that was appealled?
Off the top of my head I'd guess that 20% are true believers across the board. There are also people who see it as a way to accumulate power (the biggest percentage of the electeds), political junkies who think it's fun, people who put in a few sessions so they can become rich once they retire from the legislature and become lobbyists and everything else in between.Abe and Bentley - what percentage of staff would you say were true believers v political junkies/just wanted to win/thought the game was fun? Same question about the actual politicians?
Irvin's lawyer needs a chick in white of his own.I am so confused. Parliamentary procedure always seemed stupid to me. I think the chick in the white is the only one who knows what is going on.
I don't see what would prevent an endless stream of parliamentary questions... it seems they have precedence.Could they really keep this up for an hour and a half?
