Godless - Netflix series (1 Viewer)

I thought it was great. IMO they paid off Goode’s badass gun skill in the flashback when he escaped with the money. That scene, with the csi analysis by the sheriff was terrific.

The show was written and directed by the screenwriter of Get Shorty and Out of Sight. This is his first directorial effort. I’m a fan.

The director was on fresh air last week. Apparently he wrote this as a feature but no one would make it. So he stretched it into a series. I guess score one for those who thought it was a little too long.

Binged it today. Man, was this a beautifully shot series. Really liked it overall, but agree that it dragged in the middle.

Finished this today. I really enjoyed it and I'm not a big western fan or anything. Sure it dragged a bit in the middle episodes.. but it was still interesting and entertaining.  Even the best series had some slow and scrappy episodes.

Give it 4 out of 5 as well. Not Breaking Bad or GOT level, but so much better than a lot of the other garbage out there.

I thought this series was excellent. The acting was great, loved the story and the scenery and camera work was beautiful.

I agree though that it felt like it dragged on a bit. One thing I noticed is that many of the scenes that were very long. We're used to 2-3 minute scenes, some of the scenes in this series were like 7-10 minutes long, maybe longer. The scene where Truckee was learning to ride the horse, for example, felt like it chewed up a ton of screen time.

Either way, the slow burn leading up to the final gun fight was well worth it.

As someone mentioned in here. This was originally a 2 hour movie script that they were unable to sell. Netflix picked it up as a limited Series.. thus they needed those " slow times" to stretch it out.
Saying that, I actually kind of liked the "slow times" .. Gave you a chance to just take in the scenery and enjoy the story without being over burdened with dialog that just wouldn't be needed.
The whole "Horse Whisperer" part would have lost it's place had they filled it in with some not needed dialog. :deadhorse:

Liked it but gradually less with each episode. Ending was lame to me. Badass gang blows through everyone including Blackton without losing more than a couple guys. Bunch of women, half of whom can’t shoot, mow them down. Granted from a fortified position but come on, let’s not stand in the middle of the street.

Thanks. Now I don't have to watch the last episode.

Agree. Thought the middle episodes were fairly boring. Really liked the beginning and thought the end was good. I feel like they could have cut about 3 hours from the series and just made it a really long movie.
I thought the first 2 episodes were the slowest and loved the middle. That was the meat of the show for me.

I'm not usually into westerns but enjoyed this a good bit.
