Going off of soda today cold turkey... (1 Viewer)

and yadda, yadda, yadda, I'm really tired today.

Ugh is this a struggle. I don't want to do coffee, but I'm feeling the caffeine withdrawal this afternoon. I was drinking probably 50-100 ounces of coke per day.

Looking forward to the instant 5-10 lb drop, though. My pants have been feeling a little too snug.

Didn't know people actually drank this stuff.

 it is her favorite pop.. She actually used some of last years birthday present money to buy a Sun Drop T-shirt.

I quit in September (40th birthday). I havent had any issues. I drank soda from the time I got to work until the time I went to bed. It can be done.

I used to drink a lot of soda... I love coke, ginger ale, orange fanta, root beer, cream soda, etc. etc... Sometimes during a nice dinner I order a soda instead of an alcoholic beverage. With that being said, 100 ounces of soda in one day is disgusting and beyond unhealthy.

I've cut back tremendously and might have 12-24 fluid ounces in a week, I'd recommend you do the same... Only with a good meal and certain situations.

Used to drink 2 or 3 Pepsi's a day earlier this year. Did pretty good going from April till October only drinking during parties. This month was #### though. Fell of the wagon and was hitting 2 20 ouncers a day for a few weeks and even drinking sprite.

I need to get it under control again.

Mmmmm Sun Drop.

I think it is better than Mtn Dew. But this may be partially due to the fact that I can't get it where I live, and can only get it when I am visiting WI, so it is a treat!

Holy chit - Serious question, do you live in the midwest? I honestly don't even see people drinking soda that often i CA, which is the other end of the extreme. I guess i could easily drink that much beer in a sitting so from a calorie stand point probably not much worse.

Unsweetened iced tea is a fantastic replacement.
Yep.

Although health-wise water only is the best followed by black coffee.
i must be doing it wrong or just not used to it.

Drank unsweetened ice t once and it tasted like dirty water (This kind??) ;)
Try an Arnold Palmer (like this) to help with iced tea. 50/50 Iced Tea and Lemonade. Best done with Sweet Tea, but...
Hate unsweet tea absolutely nasty.

switch to diet. i lost 60 lbs. all while drinking 2-3 cans a day. all the people and articles saying diet soda doesnt help weight loss are full of ####. sure, my teeth may fall out and it might give me cancer, but that's a different issue.

Why not have a cup of coffee? If it were me I'd worry about ditching caffeine after I had the soda under control.

I'll take all the scientists and their recent studies on this over your anecdotal evidence.

I've been off soda for about 20 years (and off caffeinated soda 25.) I'll have a couple Sprites or 7-ups maybe 2-3 times a year, like at a company party. That's like 2 million fewer calories (and 550,000 fewer grams of sugar), than if I was drinking 2 cans a day. It would have taken about 7,000 hours (almost an entire year!) on a treadmill, @ 4mph, to burn all that off.

You're making to right choice.

:goodposting: I hate unsweetened iced tea also; black, sweet tea is best. Either way, the Arnold Palmer could ease you into iced tea.

Mello Yello

Arnold Palmer is an abomination of a drink. Pick one or the other.
The only people I know that order them are very old white guys. I mean 70+. But they really seem to like them and sometimes old guys know stuff. I may give it a try. But I am such a picky ##### when it comes to iced tea I may well be doomed before I try. I rarely order tea out because most places do a crap job of making it and then they keep it too long and it goes to crap.

I'm the same way. Lost 45 pounds getting off of regular soda. I don't miss it too much. Every so often, if we're out to dinner I'll get a real Coke.

My go to pop was Mountain Dew.

A couple of months ago, halfway through a 20oz bottle, I decided that was it.

As in it forever, not just for a month or some period of time.

I wrote the date on the bottle in sharpie, sealed it up half full, and set it on my desk.

So far so good.

You just have to fight through the occasional cravings when your brain is really trying to talk you into one (usually when I'm really thirsty or have eaten something spicy).

And watch out for situations where mostly pop is provided and you have to work a little to find water instead when it would be so easy just to grab a cold pop.
