Golden Tate (1 Viewer)

Psychopav

Help us, Joebi-Wan Brynobi, you're our only ho
I've had Tate stashed on my dynasty roster since last year waiting for him to break out.

Now that he finally got his 68 yard, 2 TD breakout game, I'm thinking of benching a banged up Greg Jennings and starting Tate instead.

Thoughts on Tate for Week 4?

:lmao:good stuff

Keeping in mind that one of those TD's and 30+ yards were a fluke that should never have happened (and no, this is not the same as trying to evaluate Cruz by taking away his long TD's, for example), I'd reevaluate how you feel about his week 3 performance.

Seems like it is, to me.

Oh, I see what this thread is. Never mind. It's just trolling idiocy. Carry on.

This is exactly the type of player and the type of coach that Popeye's Nephews needs to bring home the Rock 'n' Roll FFL superbowl trophy this year. G TATE!

Seriously? Tate doesn't have speed, height, and he doesn't run solid routes. By all accounts its a below average WR.

You obviously heard nothing of what Russell Wilson or Pete Caroll had to say about him last night, did you? They clearly love the guy, and his stats should go way up from here imo.

he's competing with playmakers like sydney rice, braylon edwards and doug baldwin for catches. c'mon.
Not sure how you define "playmaker", but a multiple td performance including the last second miracle touchdown reception? It doesn't get more playmaker than that!

I refuse to start or even own somebody who was named after an NBA team.

Although The Golden Tate Warriors would be a cool name for a fantasy football team. ;)

:goodposting: Awesome stuff. He's made big plays in the 2 games he has been in this year. Pick him up now.

Golden Tate isn't bad as a late round flier in a best ball league, but the second you start him in a regular league he will come up with a 1 catch for 9 yard performance.

Despite the jocular nature in here, there is still a dynasty consideration lurking with GT.
:goodposting:And that's exactly why I'm starting him. They can't develop without game time, and Tate can't play without making big plays. It's time imo.

Smalls?

I'm being 100% serious. If you don't believe me, PM Shuke for a thorough explanation.

I am starting him but only because I have too. We can either start 1 running and 4 wide receivers or 2 running backs and 3 receivers. My backs are Benson, Forte, Spiller, and Stewart. Spiller is doubtful, Forte plays on Monday and if I go with him and he is out I am screwed, and Stewart is still questionable. My receivers are A.J Green, Julio Jones, Reggie Wayne, Randy Moss, Golden Tate, and Nate Burleson. Wayne is on the bye so I am rolling out Benson, Green, Jones, Burleson and Tate.

I would, but he said he is busy answering all those other PMs. Incidentally, based on who you are playing against this week, I would suggest you definately get the Golden One in there. He could inspire your whole team into catching questionable TDs.

Like the Seahawks, Popeye's Nephews are more than happy to capitalize on a bad call. It's all about the dubya's, yo.

I am seriously considering benching McCoy for Charles though. We can only start 2 RB's after all.

Oh, man......bad news for Golden Taint: A deal has been reached with the REAL referees for the NFL. Dang. Just when Taint was getting all the calls going his way too. He was about to have another breakout game with the replacement refs but now he's going back into obscurity since he's going to be required to actually...y'know...perform on his own.

Too bad.

I'm just keeping it real.

CBS says that Tate is worth considering this week. Several positive signs point to a decent performance tomorrow:

Everybody knows by now Tate's second touchdown Monday against the Packers came on a highly questionable call by the refs. Nonetheless, he has his first multi-touchdown game and opposing teams now know Tate is a threat in the Seahawks' passing game. He was targeted a team-high seven times Week 3 and is developing rapport with rookie quarterback Russell Wilson. Tate is probably worth a pickup in deeper formats after his performance Monday, but he is still a low-end option for Week 4.

WTH does THAT mean? Low-end? Of what? How many? A WR3 in 12 teamers? A WR4? A WR4 with a big ###? That is the most vague "value description" I have ever seen.

"I don't know what you're talking about".

Personally speaking, my roster would have to be alarmingly thin for me to start Tate. I understand the whole "don't judge a player by taking away his one big play" thing, but the "one big play" wasn't the result of his skill; but by an atrocious officiating decision that is extremely unlikely to repeat.

If he'd gotten a long td on play where the defender fell down, we could attribute that sort of play to luck. But that type of play would be more likely to repeat than what happened in the Green Bay game last week.

To be fair, he also had a legit long TD in the 2nd quarter for 40+ yards, so it's not like his only success was the controversial play. I do get what you're saying though, and wouldn't start him unless it was an emergency.

Did anyone watch the Seattle game last night? How often was Tate double teamed? Or is it a case of Wilson not looking his way enough? If so, and a change to Matt Flynn is coming soon as some have speculated, Tate could benefit from that.

Curious to know some thoughts on him this week.

Not to give away subscriber content, but he is within starter rankings in some leagues based on both sets of projections this week.

Looks to be best available on waivers. What do you think of him in comparison to the likes of the other borderline starters?

One questionably great game in 3 doesn't instill a lot of confidence. Thoughts?

I was thinking the same thing, his projections this week are surprisingly high. I know CAR has a weak defense but I don't understand how that would be a bump in production for Tate vs more Lynch and Turbin.

Thoughts on Golden Tate this week? NE has been giving up a lot of yardage and TD's to receivers over the last three games. NE is probably going to put some points on the board, too, forcing the Seahawks to do some passing.
