Scoring systems may differ, and stat recording was spotty or non-existent for a long time, but what would you say were the best IDP fantasy seasons in NFL history?

I have been doing IDP since 1997 now and I had two of my best seasons ever from Ray Lewis. 1997 Ray Lewis- 184 total tackles (156 solo), 4 sacks, 1 int, 1 ff, 1 fr, 10 pd. The solo tackles were amazing as he was getting me 10 pts a week JUST on his solos (1 pt per solo league).2003 Ray Lewis- 163 total tackle (121 solos), 1.5 sacks, 6 int, 2 ff, 2 fr, 14 pd, 2 td. All 6 interceptions were in the 2nd half of the seasons and he got one in all the playoff weeks. Throw in 10 total tackles per game and nearly 1 PD every game and he was incredible that season as well.

Tommy Nobis had 294 tackles in 1966
I don't put much stock in that number. The "team tackle" stats are always extremely generous and padded in comparison to box score tackle numbers. For example, the 2003 Lewis season that I cited. His tackle number for that season is 163 on espn, nfl.com, etc. The Ravens media guide has Lewis at 225 for that season. He has 5 total seasons over 200 tackles with 225 being the high for him. Hardy Nickerson also had a few 200-220 tackle seasons in the early 1990s based on team statisticians. I hardly doubt that in a 14 game season that anyone, indluding Nobis, would be anywhere near 296 tackles. It is a nice nostalgic number to throw out there for fun but is highly unlikely.

What do you mean by best? The relative difference between other players (and not just total points) is probably most important.. at least for fantasy purposes. Also I play relatively big play scoring (3-FF, 4-Sack, 5-Int).

Some recent performances spring to mind:

Demarcus Ware (DE) 20 sacks, 2008

Jason Taylor (DE) 13.5 sacks, 9 FF, 2 picks, 2 TDs, 2006

Taylor was a total monster over a 4-5 year period. These players were head and shoulders above any other at their position.

Harrison (16 sacks, 2008) was also huge, but I find with LBs there is less difference between players. With DE's there is a huge dropoff, real quick.

I thought I remembered Derrick Thomas having a MONSTER season for KC back in the day.

Lewis, Willis, and Ryans had a few BIG seasons.

Also I think Nickerson had one monster year in Tampa, but time may have caused my memory to attribute greatness to what might have been a fairly normal season.

I think Thomas had 7 sacks in one game that year against the Seahawks (a loss where Dave Krieg threw a TD to win the game with Thomas drapped all over him and what would have been the record setting sack)
