greatest player to become a great coach? (1 Viewer)

Lenny Wilkens. Hall Of Famer as a player, 2 NBA title appearances as a coach, most wins (regular season + playoffs) in NBA history.

Don Shula, Tom Landry, Chuck Knoll, Tony Dungy, Forrest Gregg and Marty Schottenheimer were all players before coaching, I don't know how "great" of players they were or not, I always thought Dungy was pretty decent as were Forrest Gregg and Tom Landry from what I recall from reading about him books.  I'm not certain about the others though.

What about that guy that got punched in the face by Kermit?

Apollo Creed coached Rocky to a title, right?

Billy Donovan was a great player at P.C. and good college coach.

Also was there ever a better secondary than the Lions had in the late 50s-early 60s? LeBeau, Night Train Lane, Lem Barney and Yale Lary all made the Hall of Fame. Look at career interception leaders, those guys make up 2 of the top 10, 3 of the top 20 and 4 of the top 40. Crazy.
