Green Bay Packers Rookie videos (1 Viewer)

So despite being a Jets homer, I've been doing a lot of writing for Packers site - CheeseheadTV (whatever pays the bills...... I feel so dirty).

This week I posted a series of videos looking at the first three picks of the Packers draft - Sherrod, Cobb and Green. I thought it might give people something to look at as they prep and execute their rookie drafts. I'll be doing the Jets first three picks sometime this week for The Jets Blog.

Enjoy

Cheesehead TV is pretty cool - for a bunch of fan boys it rocks
One thing that I've found working with them is - they work their tails off, which shows in the quality of the site. I would also add that for fan boys, they do a good job of holding the team accountable.

Can't say I'm all that impressed with that 30 seconds on Green. Each hole he ran through was as wide as a truck. He ran too upright for me and didn't look all that fast. He did break some tackles, but I don't like much else besides that...

Honestly it seemed like every highlight I saw was him running through huge holes and I didn't have my Hawaii games handy. I think it's proof how much the spread really helped him, I think and that transition is his biggest challenge since GB doesn't open (at least not lately) holes you can drive a Hummer through.

Nice collection of short videos. Not sure I would describe Grant as rarely healthy though. ;) Just sayin'
Well he does seem to get nicked up each season, though other than last year, he hasn't missed a ton of games. I guess injured (or rarely healthy) implies laid up and I didn't really mean that. More like often banged up.Fair enough though.

It was against inferior competition too, but I like his moves-he is a definite upgrade speed-wise over Brandon jackson.

As a runner maybe...time will tell if he can block as well.

If nothing else - this is the most critical thing in this offense. he won't get on the field if he can't block. That's part of what hurt Starks at one point with a healthy scratch last season. even with an improved oline, he has to be able to block.

My very early criticism of Reggie Bush, that got me lambasted by many on this board, was that I was concerned he wouldn't know how to make something out of nothing or dart through the tiniest of holes to get into the secondary because he never had to in college. I think all of his linemen are playing in the NFL if not starting. Some people will be able to do it even if they didn't have to in college, but it raises a red flag for me, and I drafted the kid.

Watching that highlight reel, Green looked a lot to me like Grant and Starks. Upright tall runner with decent burst. Seems like this is the type of RB they are now targeting after missing so hard on Brandon molasses Jackson.

Molasses is gone. Had his shot last year and came up short. But agreed, there is a particular style of RB they want and Green is within those parameters, IMO.
