hahahahaha....ya once in a while....quick and easy...old and lazy

I didn't know what fish tacos were until I moved to Los Angeles, CA in 2000
Since coming back to Florida it seems weird that nobody runs wild with them around here
I see them on menus in places but there isn't that signature fast food type spots that specialize in them where you can grab n go
Florida IMHO is the fish capital of the country, we have amazing local fish and yet we can't figure out how to turn that into tacos apparently

A decent tortilla is key to a fish taco. FL has a tortilla problem. No one makes them fresh. And no one even bothers to heat up the ones from the package. Just cold from the bag. Even at decent restaurants. Ugh. Fish is an issue up here in CFL as well. All our decent local fish caught in quantity gets shipped to Asia. You really have to know a couple local places to buy fresh caught fish. Ridiculous.

My beautiful expensive eggs that were going for around $8 about two to three years ago and were slow to rise as the pink styro cartons rose to unheard of levels
Yeah those blue eggs are now $11 per dozen

I paid $23 for a filet mignon, super thick and enough with a full baked potato for my wife and I we have enough for a nice steak dinner....you go 2 minutes on each of the thickest sides of the filet in a hot pan and then sear each remaining side for 1 minute, 1 minute then back to the thick sides for another minute each, make sure you salt the outside of the filet, deliciously rare.med rare

I'm planning on going to Publix and Fresh Mkt, will report back with some more prices
Potatoes btw, $2.50/lb for loose ones? I paid $2 for an organic onion the other day, seems pricey

Here in Southern Ontario, coffee and chocolate still seem to be two really going crazy. I think there are extenuating circumstances short term for both (drought/poor yields in the limited areas they can currently be grown) but have also heard that they are both likely to be affected long term by changing climates in the coffee belts and that it may not be so short term.

Apparently for coffee there is hope to offset that with a mix of technology and hydroponics but I'm a bit skeptical on how quickly that can become a mass market thing to supplement declining crops.

In the meantime, my $13 Costco bag is over $20 now.

We are seeing a huge change in where our produce comes from but I won't say much more about that aside for these oranges from Spain and Morocco are delicious and haven't seen much of a price increase yet.

Ground beef at Publix is at least $9.99 a pound and some of them go up a few dollars more from that
1.5 lb ground beef packages like you might grab for burgers or to make chili, $15-$18 a pack, roughly 1.5 lbs, seemed expensive

Organic strawberries run $7 per pack, think they're 1lb packs
Organic cream is running about $5 for the Publix quart and one that is half that size by OG Valley

-Promised Land Choc Milk, the big ones 50 oz+
BOGO! and they have a long shelf life in the fridge if you don't open them right away, these were some time in mid November
I'll open on e and then save the other one for a few weeks, love chocolate milk even though it's not very good for you, delicious after a work out/run/tennis

I noticed ground turkey prices started dropping about when ground beef prices started spiking. Healthier too! 3 lb packs of ground turkey have been regularly priced at $12.99 all summer and I've swooped them up any time they drop the sale price to $10.99.

We've not had a great berry crop this year, but they're somewhere between $0.99 and $1.50 per pound somewhere in town almost every weekend.

No comment re dairy - I barely have any.
