Gruden nailed it. (1 Viewer)

I think he was calling Kiper a dumb ssa, was it just me or did it look like Gruden was about to give Kiper a beat down.
wasn't just you I saw it too, when Gruden glowingly spoke about Tebow, Kiper had to chime in to bash Tebow ..it was another one of those classic 'who the hell is Mel Kiper, Jr??' episodes..Gruden was about to rip into him about his 'expertise'.good job by Gruden, he's proving to be a media god,too bad he's on espn..

The bolded is Gruden's problem; he speaks that way about EVERY player, whether it be the draft or MNF.

I'd much prefer someone take a stand, and show why they believe it.

Hmmm, I must be the only one that likes Tom Jackson. He's a little miscast in the draft day stuff, but I like him on Sunday mornings. Steve Young is a joke though.

I was watching Schefter's twitter last night, and you can get about half of the picks 5-10 minutes early with that. ESPN should revolve their coverage around him.

I was spotty with my ESPN viewing last night -- was Jackson pissed because Denver picked Tebow or because of his inane supporting cast behind the desk?

this bugs the hell out of me too. he couldn't be more bland as a result, imo. i don't mind steve young at all. all the talk about him being "dumb" is off. he's opinionated and a bit of a prig but he's definitely not a dummy.

I know he is supposed to be a smart guy but his brain damage appears to be catching up to him. The guy called Mile's Austin "Austin Miles" 3 times in a row with plent of time in between to remember. Add to it that he interupts everyone else with some wild ramblings and it makes me think it is time for him to go.

this is quibbling, i think. there is some validity to the talking over the other commentators but let's consider who was up there with him:Berman: less is more;

Jackson: could have used a lot more of him but he was kind of reticent. i think this format doesn't suit his strengths which are abundantly displayed on the sunday shows.

Gruden: never met a player he didn't like.

Kiper: didn't get his usual player breakdown in but is a blowhard through and through.

There was definitely a lot of weird tension between the ESPN guys. I think Steve Young's an idiot so the way I saw the tension was frustration all directed at Steve Young pulling dumb comments out of his ### while pick after pick trying to talk over everyone else. It was annoying to watch.
That was what made it so entertaining for me. It was obvious, just like it used to be on the ESPN Sunday pre-game show, that Steve Young is not well liked. Gruden was laughing at him with Kiper and Tom Jackson continued to pout. How could you not love that train wreck?
:goodposting: Although if given the choice, I'd remove that idiot Young and also Jackson from the panel and just roll with Gruden, Kiper, and a host (Berman, whatever). But that was darn entertaining at times last night. Also, when Gruden botched Demaryus Thomas name was great too. Called him Orpheus or Arellious...something like that. Kiper was just laughing.edit: and watching that maraton interview with Tebow had us rolling. The people in the background were just standing there so straight faced and Schapp just kept asking question after question after question.

Young bumbles and rants worse than Emmitt. He needs to be gone soon. I love Chucky though. He is becoming larger than life, even If he absolutely loves everyone. Berman's sticht has been old for a while now.

Gruden looked like used a low flow shower before the draft. Hair don't get no flatter than that.
Is it me or does he always look as though he is trying to squeeze out a fart? The eyes squinting, the coloring in his face...he looks as though he is bracing for a big one.

I

Suzy Kolber looked REALLY good.
Yes
Are you freaking kidding me? She looks like one of those troll dolls on acid.
:moneybag: That blondie was ok though. The one who wasn't Erin Andrews, who looks to have gone somewhat downhill.
If its jenn brown, she is smoking, not sure what channel she was doing, but she had guest spots on inside the nfl, I think she is a spinner
Useless without pics. Here you go, and yes, shet is hot.http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/imag...rown&sz=all

wow...i didn;t even flip to espn cause I cant stand berman in this format anymore and I used to like the guy.....I was cool with NFL network all night
Same here love seeing Faulk, Irvin and Deion....plus the normal crew at NFLN. I do miss Schefter though...he is damm good. But NFLN is my place for all my NFL viewing for pregame, postgame and draft coverage. I only watch Monday Night Countdown these days for my ESPN football fix.Come on man!!!!
the way faulk and mayock were breaking down the players was so insightful that i dont know why anyone would watch ESPN. if you don't get the channel then stream it on your computer. i did that last year when i didnt have the channel. cannot tolerate berman. rather watch his weight loss commercials than his draft coverage.

At first it's funny, but the reality is it's really pretty sad. We're witnessing the degeneration of Steve Young's mental faculties right before our eyes. He's going down the same road as Evander Holyfield. Very sad.

Even better than that was earlier in the evening before Tebow was picked and there was still all sorts of tension, Schapp was doing a live report from Tebow's house and he was standing about 3 feet in front of Tebow and his boy band buddies who were trying to act normal while Schapp was practically shouting into the camera.

I think he secretly still wants to get another HC job and is just making sure he doesn't piss anyone off before he does. You never know who he'll end up having to coach/work for. You don't want to insult the judgment of people who might give you a job.

I can't imagine not watching / listening to Mayock for these things. IMO he's clearly above the rest.
:lmao: Lisp be damned.
Amen to that. My problem is I can't stand listening to Berman. I can't stand Kiper for the first couple of days because. He knows a lot of stats but sucks ssa at predicting who is going to be good and who isn't. He's great for the traditional second day of the draft otherwise he sucks. So I'm over on NFL network most of the night but then I have to deal with Michael Irvin prattling on about crap. And while I didn't hear that Gruden comment, he was my fave along with Mayock, but my favorite quote of the night came from Tom Jackson after all the raving about Tebow's leadership. He said, "You have to be on the field to lead." Best line of the night outside of what Grudens said.

i thought that too until he signed a 2 year extension. it's unfortunate because i liked what i saw of the gruden qb camp feature earlier this week. jon gruden needs to find his inner "chucky" once more...

The ESPN broadcast was a hack.

Is the producer too busy snorting lines to signal these guys back on the air?

There should never be *FIVE* people covering anything.

This is just what happens when you stick five people behind a table and most of them have no broadcast training.

Since NFLN has Mayock...that is where my channel will be tuned.

But yeah, I agree with Gruden for once. A lot of dumb ssa coaches/GM in the NFL nowadays. This is one of the worst drafts I can remember...so far.

Can we get our first broadcasting trade? Irvin and two first rounders for Gruden? Gruden and Mayock with some Marshall Faulk and Rich Eisen mixed in?

Two year extensions evaporate when the head coaching gigs emerge.
