I hope it is true for the exact opposite reason.I hope it aint so-I'd kinda like to see if the Vikings could get this guy.
Have you ever been to South Bend? It's a little different than South BeachGruden could be using the Miami job as leverage. It's hard to imagine he could pass on ND and then go to Miami the next year.
Miami is going to look bad again because there really aren't a lot of sparkling candidates. Dan Mullen who went 13-15 in 2 years at Miss St? Is that the big splash? Just hire Leavitt now and get it over with.

Mullen stated today in a Mississippi paper that he has not been contacted and is not interested. He actually was 13-11 in 2 years, not 13-15. More impressive than you may think given how wretched the team was he took over. Last game of 2007, Ole Miss beat them 45-0. This year 8 total wins and 4 Sec wins. Auburn beat them by 3 . Arkansas beat them by 7 in double ot. Paper stated MSU preparing extension offer and will match anything Miami offers. SEC payday from 10 bowls in serious money, even for the bottom dwellers.Ministry of Pain said:Gruden could be using the Miami job as leverage. I actually lived in South Bend from 06' to 09' and about 5 minutes from the HS that Gruden went to. The fact that he is from South Bend is the only reason I could see him wanting that job, which IMO is one of the most overrated in the country. It is a somewhat depressing area to live in.But anyways, I don't see him taking the Miami job either and apparently he won't.Ministry of Pain said:The Real Hipster Doofus said:Have you ever been to South Bend? I think Greg Schiano has his eye on Penn State...but another year like this one and the shine might be off the pumpkin, he needs Joe Pa to retire now. There's a greater chance Gruden ends up coaching the Dolphins in 2012 than the Canes in 2011. UM doesn't want a coach with baggage (Leavitt and Leach), now that Shannon's cleaned up the program. So that leaves guys like Mullen (who will get a nice raise either way), Randy Edsall (Conn), and Greg Schiano, who nobody in the local media is mentioning. Schiano has the recruiting edge over anyone - he brought Britt, Ray Rice and a bunch of other future NFL draft picks to a school with no recent football tradition. But he turned the Canes down 4 years ago, so maybe he won't be considered.
Good grief MOP....I think (and most would agree) that Mullen is 10X the hire Leavitt would be. I don't get your fascination with him.Ministry of Pain said:Miami is going to look bad again because there really aren't a lot of sparkling candidates. Schiano??? Come on...I'm a lifelong Rutgers fan, but he might be sent packing at RU if they have another season like this. And deservedly so.There's a greater chance Gruden ends up coaching the Dolphins in 2012 than the Canes in 2011.
