Ok, I'll give the answer:
#1 is Steve Young
#2 is JP Losman
I've heard basically nothing but bad things said about Losman. Now I'm a Bills fan so maybe I'm biased, but I don't think that his numbers are atrocious for a first year QB. His completion percentage is too low but the rest of his numbers aren't horrible. His INTs are a lot higher than Young's but pretty good compared to most QBs through their first 8 starts.
I'm also a bills fan so that's how I recognized Losman's stats. I think I put up a similar comparison showing Losman next to Eli Manning's first 8 games. The results were similar.I really wish I thought the Bills knew what they were doing here, but why Craig Nall? Is there need for another young(ish) QB who appears to have talent, but hasn't had an opportunity yet? That's exactly what losman is.
I think that the addition of Nall is worse for Holcomb than it is for Losman. The Bills know exactly what Holcomb is. He's a QB that can put your team at .500. He could put up 400 yards in a game but is more likely to throw for 190 and 2 INTs. If they have decided that they are in rebuilding mode, then they're better off giving a guy like Nall a shot and hoping they found a Jake Delhomme, Marc Bulger or Kurt Warner. I'd prefer JP be given the benefit of the doubt, but if they bring in Nall, give him a shot and he does really well I'd love that. People need to stop expecting so much from young QBs so early. Yeah it was his second year in the NFL, but he was injured almost the entire first season which really affected his learning curve.
I'm just getting tired of hearing people trash Losman. No he didn't look like Peyton Manning out there but he didn't compare all that badly to most other QBs through their first several games. It's just especially strange that so many people are trashing Losman and writing him off but giving Alex Smith the benefit of the doubt still. Smith is making a WHOLE lot more money and has put up stats that look worse than Losman's so far.
