Hack's Industrial, Techno & 90's Electronica Favorites - Friday Night Dance Party (2 Viewers)

Alright...we've got some interest.  Next up:  Fluke

They are probably my favorite underground or unheard of electronic act of the 90s. They had a few popular club hits like Slid which was also in Sliver, one of Billy Baldwin's finest performances. :lmao:

But my favorite song from them is Bullet and I love this remix:  https://youtu.be/lYTIayIHeiE
Was always a big fan of "Groovy Feeling"

Edit: How could I forget to mention "Atom Bomb" as well.

Well..there is the old school trance, the original sasha and digweed stuff and a lot of the early Global Underground compilations that still stand up. But just didn't like the direction it took in the 2000s with the chicks voices and stuff.  But that's just me.

KMFDM - aka with enough shots on goal something will be good. I am not the biggest fan, they just have such an overwhelming number of songs that there is a lot of chaff to sort through, but they have a decent handful of good songs. The majority of the songs that I like contain Raymond Watts (so why not just listen to Pig instead) and are more industrial rock like. Skipping those -

For some more recent songs by them (since I assume most people here are somewhat familiar with Nihil era if they are familiar with the band) that I thought had crunchy beats:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8b0wXMhavk - Day of Light

A Pig song that could fit:

Going to obsess on Underworld for a minute because I think at the end of the day they are my #1 of all time. I've gone back and forth between them and Chemical Brothers over the years. What's amazing to me about both of these groups is that they are still producing relevant music and sounds for almost 30 years. I've seen them both live multiple times and I have to give the edge to the Chems live because of the visuals they've been producing. But Underworld has much more range with Karl Hyde's lyrics, poetry and voice. I really enjoy their downtempo, mellow songs as much as the hard core bangers.

I found this podcast which is hosted by Karl and talks about all the influences and inspirations to make their first album.  https://www.mixcloud.com/eugene-egorenkov/underworld-bbc-6-mix-10102014/

One of my favorite songs on that is Golden Girls by Kinetic - https://youtu.be/MwmChAlXwyI

Definitely a top 10 for me from the 90s.  Loved a lot of the popular hits. They made a #### ton of albums but I was never a huge fan boy so I didn't dig all the deep with them. Saw them a few times in concert which was 🔥.

Juke Joint Jezebel - https://youtu.be/91w6Q2tytLc

Light - https://youtu.be/Gp-z0QJefIY

Godlike - https://youtu.be/gPuTqmcs16E

bonus footage - saw them at Chicago Metro WaxTrax retrospectacle - https://youtu.be/VYIw_4ncWjY

Weren't they KMFDM roadies who made some music on the side? Kind of similar to Pigface for me, where I liked them for 6 months or so. With that said, I retained 3 songs that I liked by them, the one which you linked, then

Temptation - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d275TcSXVyI

Admit - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWCGCLLA4HQ

Saw a few people mention Pig.

He has quite a few good songs, very industrial rock with more rock than industrial for most songs. Some of their recent stuff is decent which is rare for artists making music for 30+ years. There is one artist who loosely/occasionally fits the thread that I feel Pig was heavily influenced by, they were briefly on WaxTrax so they should be fine. Will see if they turn up.

Nitzer Ebb!

Always liked Join in the Chant - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ty2ho-ZR1bU and Getting Closer - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzpFymqOVTU, but never really got into them much.

Also, how is AARP treating you guys?

Nice backstories, didn't know all that.

I refuse to sign up for AARP unless there is some benefit I'd be stupid to turn down.

Are you familiar with Pretty Lights or Gramatik? For stuff not Industrial.
Pretty Lights - yes. Saw him a few times at festivals but never "got it" - kind of the jam band DJ IMO.

Gramatik - no...i'll have to check it out

That is ok, I am in the same boat for both of them, I just have a handful of songs from either I like, and they tend to be on a single album so maybe I am not really a fan (kind of like how the only Billy Idol I like is Cyberpunk because I am not really a Billy Idol fan).

For Pretty Lights I was just a fan of the album Making Up a Changing Mind, specifically:

Total Fascination - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTx-h6xrW_I

I can see it in your face - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbgiI3BMOkU

For Gramatik I like the Album Recoil II (it is a free download even):

Funk it VIP - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lj0OT8QR6lw

Don't Mind it VIP - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhRy5kLwL2k

Torture - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkMvpcJe9UA

The more I smoke and drink the deeper I'm getting into some of the classics. Can't believe I haven't posted Ministry yet. One of the crazier stories about a band that you will ever find. Crazy Al and all the antics he's pulled over the years, so many different band members. Started off as synth-pop and then right to industrial.

Synthpop Favorite - https://youtu.be/LbnytG2m7gk (not what they are known for but With Sympathy really holds up. Still one of my favorite albums cover to cover)

Stigmata - https://youtu.be/qxaPj19VnRA
