MC Gas Money

Footballguy
Delivery driver we placed a few weeks ago.

Company said he had been keeping their van a mess and today they found a bottle of urine in the back.

He had been punctual and reliable. They never said anything to him previously and then freaked out over the pee. Was tough to give him the news because he has kids and is a pretty pleasant guy.

Really ruined an otherwise productive day. This is something I will have to get used to in this business.

Never easy for me, even when they really, really deserve it.
In this case the guy didnt because they never even mentioned the issue. This a nitoriously difficult client. Anyone who druves for a living has peed in a bottle, its unfortunate he forgit to throw it out.

I was honest about what they said and ill try to find something else for him.

hey at least you did not post about his baseball carreer and drug use on the internet while using his name so he has that going for him brohan

I had to fire my nephew a few years ago.

Never hire family.
Details?
I hired him to work in the distribution center I managed. He was young and ADHD. He was easily distracted by the hot young secretary and just couldn't seem to complete a task without getting sidetracked. After more than a few warnings it became apparent he thought he had job security because he was related. I decided that not only was he not cut out for warehousing, he needed a wake up call. He eventually found a job that he's much better suited for, but it still sucked majorly to have to fire him.

Seriously. Brother's son or sister's???
Sister's. She practically begged me not to fire him when she found out I wasn't satisfied with his work. That made it really tough because I see her about three times a month. I had to do it though. It just kills morale when your employees have to carry another worker just because he's family.

What does he do now?
Backhoe operator. No hot secretary to look at, but he loves it.

Dude, I'm old enough to be her father!

Plus I forgot to save them when I got a new phone.

But the per bottle demonstrates a level of efficiency that needs to be rewarded, not punished. Unless it was clean urine I suppose.

No, but if you're trying to feed a fantasy I could make something up.

No. I want the truth dammit.

How much longer did he have on that assignment? Are you looking for something else for him?
Temp to hire. We have placed drivers with them who turned in to long term gigs.

He was reliable. Wasnt a performance issue they just said he consistently left the truck a mess but never said anything to him.

I want to get him something else soon but because of his age and one dimensional experience im kind of limited only to placing him in a delivery position. I dont have any others on the table right now.

If thrre is more to the story the client isnt ssying what it is. They are huge pains in the ### and just fire people without even opening a dialogue og their concerns first.

Last year we averaged 50 temp to hire people where I work. You will need to get used to firing people. They are using a middle man to get a job, usually because they have difficulty getting one on their own. In our building, we pay $2 an hour more than our regular employees due to the premium the agency collects.

Most of these people are on a very short leash. Slack off and you're gone. Cop an attitude and you're gone. Show up late or no show, and you're gone. There's a list of people waiting to take their place.

We invest approx 30 minutes in orientation and training. I've been suggesting since I started with this company, that we either invest more in these people, or stop using temp agencies altogether. Right now, we have zero working our building. That will probably increase when we get to the fall season.

brohan when you fire someone give them a vagbeast shirt it will be like hey i know you will probably not pay your rent this month but hey free vagbeast take that to the bank

I once had to fire a guy that was doing field tech work on an environmental hazard job. We shipped him in from out of state with a bunch of other techs and had them sharing hotel rooms and getting per diem. Well, I have like 30 guys working I the job when the client calls to say he hasn't shown up for two days and his roommate is complaining. The guy was smoking crack and banging hookers in the hotel room while the other guy is trying to get sleep before a long day at work. I had to drive down, get him out of the hotel room and then bring him to a check cashing place so he had money to get on a train home. It was probably good for him to get home though as his wife was several months pregnant.

What was he making? Were these quality hookers?

hookers & blow. I wonder which FBG it was who came into an unexpected windfall.

The worst part of any job
It was easier than I thought it would be, though still not easy.

I feel like my job is turning me in to a jerk because i have to detach myself emotionally from the human side of the business.
You should never detach emotionally. It should always hurt to fire someone.

You can still be a good, nice guy and a good boss. You just have to learn to get tough when you have to.

Sure he did. Just like Cher's farewell tour in 2002.

In college I answered an ad for warehouse Christmas help.

it was through a temp agency. I showed up and we were stuffing flyers inside of magazines. When we finished they told us to take a break clock out and come back in 15 minutes.

I clocked out and went home. It was awful.

My crazy ex-boss made me let go of 4 people before he finally fired me. It sucked every time, but they all knew it wasn't my decision, we just couldn't afford them anymore.

The guy is not even taking breaks to pee. So he has to pee in a bottle while driving to keep up with delivery s and you fire him?
