Hakeem Nicks listed as doubtful a few weeks ago (1 Viewer)

Great news. But I drafted Cruz, Marshall and AJ Green ahead of him and then Jordy fell to me in the 9th and is playing real well plus Amendola might be coming back so I'll probably just wait a few more weeks for him to break out before maybe trading him for Julio.
When you want to expand your 4 team league lemme know....seriously though this is great news and hope he holds up, I traded for Harvin early on and have Jordy and Stevie Johnson, but being able to start Nicks, Jordy, and Harvin (w/ return yards) would be freakin sweet.

uh oh, knee flaring up again?

Hakeem Nicks was held out of practice Thursday with a sore knee.

It's a flareup of the same knee that has bothered Nicks for the past two months. "Hopefully it will subside, and he'll be ready to go," said coach Tom Coughlin. Considering Nicks' history, he must be viewed as questionable to face the Saints on Sunday. Check back Friday afternoon to see if the knee cooperates enough to return to practice. Dec 6 - 12:26 PM

are you f'in kidding me? Now I HAVE to play Decker as only 4 WR's on my roster. Hate Nicks and I hate Thursday games..damn it.

I have a bye this week, but I"m not sure what I prefer regarding his situation. If he plays, he risks aggravating the injury and possibly missing more time. If he doesn't play, it could be another long term situation like we've dealt with a few times this season.

Dave Richard just tweeted that Nicks is practicing. No word yet on whether it's a full or limited practice though.

Regardless, his upside will be capped. I'm pretty bummed as I was hoping to trot out a healthy Nicks at least once this year. Just once.

Even with a good matchup vs the Saints I'm sitting Nicks no matter what now. Started Decker over him after knee swelling and putting FJax as the flex. Also Eli out and Cam in. I was salivating over this matchup all year and now have no skin in the game

I'm with you. This sucks. Such a great matchup, but it's just so hard to play him now.I'm actually thinking of putting in Josh Gordon instead.

Maybe it's because I have a bye so I'm not faced with the realistic shot of taking a low score, but there is no way I'd bench him in this matchup if I was playing this week.

I'd be starting Brandon Marshall, Pierre Garcon, and Nicks, while sitting Stevie Johnson and Michael Crabtree (PPR league).

Me too. Also considering Alexander or Mike Williams.

Not sure why Alexander wouldn't be your choice regardless. He's a top 5 receiver over the past month in my league.

nicks injury isnt really concerning to me. im much more worried about starting him given how terrible he has looked all yr. just been unable to get separation.

In the game vs. GB, I was in awe with what I saw. I was sitting with my dad and whenever NYG was in the RZ I'd mumble, "fade to Nicks". Nicks was targeted on four separate plays in the RZ, a majority being fades to the left corner I believe and he just couldn't come down with it. Some of the throws were off, but a healthy Nicks would have finished that game with a 9/100/4 stat line. The upside just isn't there this year, it can't be with him at less than 100%. At best, I think we can hope for a similar 5/70/1 stat line, one in which I'd be happy with.

Terrible matchup this week (especially compared to Gordon/Williams).Basically that's how far Nicks has fallen--I'm weighing him vs. the cream of the waiver wire and letting the matchups decide.

^^That's exactly what I did. Not gonna sit around & wait for confirmation Hakeem is active...it's a late afternoon game.

If Nicks starts, he's a go for my squad...the Saints match up is just too good to pass up IMHO. That said, I also have Michael Crabtree to fall back on IF Nicks is not active, so I do not risk a zero. :football:

I have no WR options after the early games, so I'm benching Nicks for either Steve Smith or Josh Gordon. IF Hakeem had been looking solid, I'd likely roll the dice & leave him in my lineup, but since that's not the case, to my bench he goes. I'll go w/ someone who's actually healthy & scoring points.

Completely bummed about the re-aggravation of his knee. Nicks' health was making up for losing Harvin. Looks like I'm gonna have to roll with Julio, Garcon, and Torrey Smith and not risk a 0.

I'd rather Nicks play and blow up on my bench that get blanked by him in the first round of the playoffs.

I've got the same decision and Nicks only put up 43 yds last week against Washington last week and Crabtree has a decent match up against Miami this week. I'm almost positive I'm going with Crabtree. Nicks hasn't been impressive since week 2.Just to throw a wrench into it all I've also got Britt to consider.

Nearly 40 targets and 6 red zone looks the last 3 weeks. Geez ur hard to please.

Does your league award points for targets and looks?

Hakeem Nicks - WR - Giants

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports that Hakeem Nicks (knee, questionable) is "set to play" in Week 14 versus the Saints.

No, but in order to accumulate points, you need targets and looks. Before the setback on Wednesday (which has me concerned), my eyes saw that Nicks was getting separation and Eli merely missed him on a couple of big plays last week. IF he is ACTIVE, he's a go for me, as his ceiling is much greater than Crabtree's and his floor is around where Crabtree's is...I understand not taking the chance on the zero if all of your options are exhausted at 1:00, but he's the best of my options after the early games.

La Canfora's take, per RW:

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports that Hakeem Nicks (knee, questionable) is "set to play" in Week 14 versus the Saints.

La Canfora adds that Nicks should see "plenty of action." This has been the feeling for much of the week, despite Nicks missing Thursday's practice. Checking in as Rotoworld's No. 13 receiver this week, he has a dream matchup with a leaky New Orleans secondary. The teams don't kick off until 4:25 ET, but early signs are pointing to Nicks being active and starting.

Want to believe he's going to be okay, given his matchup. Really do. "If he plays he's in my lineup", etc, etc....but my disaster option if I wait until the late games, due to some other questionable guys this week, is either Bess vs. SF or Lloyd on MNF. :yucky:

Still leaning toward risking it with Hakeem("he plays, I start him"), but I'm sure I'll waffle back and forth 100 times between he and Mike Williams before 1 o'clock.

I live NY Giants country, and everything I have heard yesterday and today is Nicks will play, and play well. He has played hurt all season, and for much of his career.

I would play him especially against that Saints defense. Good luck to all in the playoffs.

Same here. I just benched Williams for Nicks, since I think Hakeem has a better shot at a massive game. But I might chicken out and put Williams back in. He seems safer.

Not sure if y'all have watched Saints games lately, but the numbers aren't really indicative of earlier in the season. They just held Ryan and co. to 285 yards. Defense is actually playing better than the offense; not to mention they've owned the Giants lately.
