Harrisburg police officer wrongly accuses veteran of 'stolen valor (1 Viewer)

I saw this on the news yesterday and it sickened me. These are two grown, adult men (one in a position of authority) following and harassing a 75-year-old man in an attempt to shame him.

Even if they had been right (which they weren't), their actions were completely juvenile and uncalled for. The police chief's seemingly uncaring attitude and the fact that no one has apologized or even addressed it yet makes me angry.

And of course the mayor has backed up the actions of his dumb officer. How about a simple apology to the former Marine and a quick explanation about why they were doing what they were doing.

Those two should be publically shamed for their actions. And the city should apologize already.
They thought he was trying to take something to which he was not entitled. They were wrong, and in the process of being wrong they took something from him. I do not know that what they took can ever be fully returned, but the apology you suggest would go at least part way towards doing so.

The mayor has made a statement that the officer acted appropriately and did not apologize. What a coward.

He's not a coward; he's just doing his job.
Not in my opinion. He should be honest and admit the wrong that was done to this person. You don't attack an old man over a uniform. He wasn't displaying any medals.

The officer should get an unpaid vacation and the mayor should grow some moral values.

Beat me to it.I'm not sure what you're referring to as far as "doing his job", Jack, but it is certainly not to unquestioningly support the police department and their actions.

Mayor should've gotten in front of this and maybe given the old guy the key to the city or something cool to recognize his commitment to veterans.

Hell, July 4th is around the corner...you can't tell me the mayor couldn't have used one of those festivities to apologize and honor the guy. Could've turned this into a positive...but they burn the guy down and just toe the company line.

We are talking about Harris-neck, PA.

As a vet the more I think about this the madder I get. I served in the Air Force and being the nerdy type I am I read a lot of AF history once in. But there is no way in hell I would go after some old guy over what I "thought" were uniform irregularities. Are you kidding me? My own uniform changed several times in 5 years.

This guy has been serving the veteran community faithfully for years and these 2 ######s humiliate him like this? The Mayor and captain pile on? The vets in that town should be right pissed off and doing something to show their displeasure.
