Harvin collapses (1 Viewer)

I thought I'd had migraines before, but after reading this thread, apparently I haven't.

Man. I hope he's able to find a cure for them somehow.

I know some of you will snicker, but the staff needs to investigate some alternative medicine approaches such as herbal and natural cures. Sometimes the lack of a vitamin, mineral, nutrient or enzyme can trigger effects. No joke, someone call Ricky Williams.

This guy needs to retire already, what a mess...
Do you think the migraines will lessen if he stops playing football?
I think it really depends on why he gets them. It is different for many people. However, there are some common things that spur the onset of a migraine: bright lights, physical exertion, stress, changes in barometric pressure, empty stomach. I'm pretty sure head trauma is not a typical cause of migraines. It seems fair to say, though, that reducing stress and the degree of physical exertion would do a lot to alleviate the frequency of migraines (presuming his attacks are triggered by the above set of mechanisms).Frankly, I wouldn't touch this guy in fantasy. I know he's very gifted. But a migraine is crippling (you don't want to do anything except cuddle up in a ball in a quiet, dark room), and the frequency he gets them is very unusual. Seems like he can go down at any point without warning. Kudos to him for battling through this but, and I suppose this depends on the price, owning him strikes me as an unwise, high risk investment.

You trying to scare people away from him?

Harvin is money. He dealt with migraines all last year and has dealt with them since childhood. Yeah, price a little risk into his value, but the dude is MONEY, especially in return yardage leagues.

I'm not lowering his value at all in my rankings based on this episode alone, short of some unexpected turn for the worse, the updates on this story are very encouraging...

Everyone said he was stupid (myself included) to test positive before the combine, but the intense migraines would probably scare more teams away than a positive drug test so maybe he just took a chance that he could get away with it and take the lesser of two evils for the NFL teams to grade him on?

No, I only had one once. People confuse a migraine with a really bad headache and there is simply no comparison. A migraine truly does immobilize you. I know with that one I had I was forced to cancel a big hiking trip and all I wanted to do was be in the dark, not move, and try to sleep. You have no desire to do anything because 100% of your focus is trying to get rid of it and even doing minor things, like walking, seem to make it worse.

...I feel for Percy in a big way, having to constantly live with these.

Sunlight or any bright light while you have a migraine is comparable to a vampire in old movies getting hit with light. Your head just seems to explode with pain. On a personal note I get migraines when I don't drink enough water/fluids and get dehydrated.

Percy Harvin, who was hospitalized yesterday after collapsing at Vikings practice because of a severe migraine, is back at practice today.

Harvin is watching from the sidelines in shorts during the portion of practice that is open to the media at Winter Park.

The second-year wide receiver was rushed to the hospital yesterday after vomiting and fainting shortly after noon, causing the Vikings to cut their workout short.

The team does not practice tomorrow when it heads to San Francisco for Sunday night's preseason game.

I've had more than one, but the last one I had was about 3 years ago. It was a Saturday and I was home alone with my 6 month old son. I knew it was coming, so I called my sister to come watch our kid and by the time she got to the house I was laying on the floor in the middle of the living room completely immobile. I asked for a blanket and would not let her try to move me to the bedroom. She said I was literally just lying there moaning for like 30 minutes. I finally puked, went to bed and woke up 3 hours later with no problems.
