Has anyone been called or donated in the National Bone Marrow Registry? (1 Viewer)

Back in 1998, I signed up with the National Bone Marrow Registry (Be The Match).  I just got a call saying that I might be a match for someone and that I need to get some blood drawn as the next step.  I'm just curious if anyone has ever signed up for and been called in for this and what it involved.

I've been signed up for years, but never received a call.

My BIL I think was called up a few years ago.  His was an interesting case as he lived in Germany (army kid) for a few years, making him ineligible to donate to someone in the states (madcow disease fear I think).  They found a guy in Germany that he was a match for, and I think he did the donation on his end - but has no idea how they guy did.
